The Jets game was an aberration; these Cowboys are better than most think

In the JG era losing to even thmore worst team is not an aberration, ever, not is beating the best team. What is an aberration in the JG era is winning in the playoffs and being significantly different from .500.

Lets see in the last 5 years, almost half of Garrett's tenure as the head coach the Cowboys have had 12, 13, 10 and 9 win seasons. Only 2015 with an injury plagued season including Romo 2 offensive linemen, no back to rush for 1000 yards. Somehow 12,13 and 10 win seasons aren't 500 seasons. But you go and exaggerate all you want.

Patience is a virtue. If the internet existed during the beginning of the Tom Landry era:

Well, for Landry's first nine seasons:

Landry was well below .500, had several losing seasons, made the playoffs 3 times and never got to the SB. And then greatness was born.
JG is above .500, had only 1 losing season, made the playoffs 3 times and never got to the SB. Yet.

Just saying that in today's world; everyone wants instant gratification.

That Landry fella turned out to be a great one!

Sometimes, you just never know.

Hostile is that you?

stop with the snake oil. Landry built a dynasty in PRE-FREE AGENCY era, from ground up, when it took years to build teams. Garrett inherited a competitive team and has been in the free agency era when teams turn around franchises in a single year. Sean McVay turned the Rams around with a QB bust into a SB contender on one season.

It took 3 post for a supposed "Cowboy fan" to talk about rooting against the Cowboys to see someone on the Cowboys fail. Good job guys! Gotta keep the reputation of being the most stupid fan base alive!

Sorry, but you are what your record says you are.

Moral victories and "we are not really this bad" is what losers tell themselves to help them sleep at night.

And yes, the ship is sinking...……...take a look at the schedule...…its the hardest remaining schedule in the NFL with 8 of the last 10 against teams that are .500 or better.
This!!!

Are we still playing the Landry card? Cripes, people. Landry took over an expansion team without a draft its first year. Garrett inherited a team with the most prolific passer in franchise history and a generationally gifted pass rusher. If Garrett made the playoffs the next two years, he would have all of one more playoff season than Landry did in his first ten season despite the inherited talent advantage.

If you love Garrett and think he’s the guy, great. If you’re satisfied with what he’s accomplished so far, awesome. But let’s be intellectually honest here. There’s no comparison between Garrett and Landry thus far.

I no longer care. They've gone and screwed up any enthusiasm I had built up early on, once again.

It's nothing new either, which is unfortunate

I feel the exact same way. I saw such potential this season, but this team still looks the same and feels the same in terms of mentality.

Moore hasn't changed the offensive mindset as much as I thought.

And lord knows the defensive philosophy hasn't changed. BBDB forever.

Thus, if it's same-o, same-o, then the same level of enthusiasm has set in for me.

NO WAY this kind of coaching can win a string of playoff games, stubborn in their mindset, very little customized game plans, barely any noticeable halftime adjustments. Oh well. Don't care how "talented" this team seems, I just don't see an appearance in the Superbowl. I don't see the magic and hunger needed to get it done, especially not in crunch time in December and January. Forever outcoached, and outplayed.

Look, this last game was just unusual: Penalties, injuries, dropped passes, missed FG's. Everything that could go wrong; did go wrong. And it was frustrating!

We lost to "some darn old" QB...Errr I mean "SAM DARNOLD" QB.

But, you have to give the Jets credit. They had a sound game plan and came to play.

Now: Why do I call it an aberration?

If you would have made last weeks picks based on the higher ranked teams from Aikmans efficiency ratings you would have lost only 2 games.

http://aikman.com/AikmanEfficiencyR...man-Efficiency-Ratings-2019-As-of-Week-5.aspx

The Two Exceptions:

1. Cowboys ranked at #3 lost to the Jets ranked at #30 (This is unusual)

2.
Bucs ranked #14 lost to the Panthers ranked at #15 (This is not unusual. These two teams were ranked barely apart in overall efficiency).

THE SHIP ISN'T SINKING!

We have an efficient team which equals success. Aikman has it right!

With that being said: I want to see them play as a TEAM. NEVER play as individuals.

Stop this kicking nonsense. Maher went 3/4 and drilled two >50 yards.

Jets were made one dimensional. They beat us with that dimension. Packers had no WR1 and I’d like to assume we prioritize stopping the run and look what happened.

The offensive looks nothing like the first two weeks. Other teams seem to win with back up o linemen. Dak was killed he should’ve been on the move all game. No pressure from Dline.

Last year defense carried them and it doesn’t look like it will this year.

We are losing at smash mouth in the trenches football. A team is always their record. They continue this way and 8-8 here we come.

4 of 8 win in seasons, half
3 straight 8-8
12-4 followed by 4-12
He’s had a few good seasons recently with embarrassments in the playoffs
Despite enormous riches in talent...
Where is the “exaggeration”?

....the last sentence is the keyword. Collective team effort. Because money is running like wildfire, they each play to their own island.
