I think you have to take your chances with Wentz

I don't care what Marinelli and Richard have to do, but they absolutely have to figure out how to get this run defense whipped back into shape. If Howard and Miles Sanders are able to match a performance like they had in GB two weeks ago, there is little chance this Cowboys team can win this game.

So do whatever you have to do to stop the run, double Ertz if you can, then take your chances with Wentz trying to throw downfield to Algholor and Mack Hollins and short to Jeffrey.

Richard stupidly brought up "it's a process" mantra but that process needs to end Sunday night. A real defense needs to show up Sunday PM.

We're fairly evenly matched. I really have no faith the defense will suddenly turn things around to be honest. We have the worst defensive line in the NFL and Wentz can throw.
Don't worry. I dropped the Cowboys defense this week in fantasy. They'll probably end up scoring 2 touchdowns this week.

Richards is now officially part of the Garret cult.

If they don't reverse this, absolutely nothing matters this season. Bonkers that people hang this team on Dak.

Worst special teams unit in the league, and there is data to back that up. The entire operation is built around having "sure hands" in the punt return game, touchbacks in the kickoff return game, poor punting, and shaky field goal kicking. I was watching college football all day last Saturday and thought to myself: "Damn, I wish Chris Jones could punt it further than this true Freshman." Although I am not the biggest supporter of Dak, I give him some credit for constantly starting scoring drives with awful field position.

Keith O'Quinn is another "project" coach, and we already have too many of those on our coaching staff.

I was a bit surprised to see that we're a 3-point fav over Philly Sunday night. :omg:

Of course, it means little, since the Las Vegas bookies aren't taking the field. :muttley:

I'm actually not as worried about our offense. It seems every time we get the ball, our backs are against the wall. Field position is everything. And the fact that we have put up the numbers we have is encouraging despite missing so many offensive starters. But the defense is bad. As always TBH

I think this one comes down to which team can protect their QB better and I would take the over on 50 in this one. This is more of a slow them down and get some 3's instead of 6's. Neither of these teams is playing good pass D and both want to run the ball and play action.

This game is more important to Dallas because of the 3 game slide, they're going into the bye and the rematch is in Philly in December. I've got as feeling every little bit of a tiebreaker edge the Cowboys can get is going to come into play if they're to repeat as East champs. I also no longer think both can get in, only the division champ is going.

I agree about the evenly matched, one is 6th and the other 7th in the NFC, just don't know which is which yet.

The thing that worries me the most is stopping the run. We're bad. Opposing offenses get to the 2nd level and then it's all on the LBers and secondary. And the pass rush is pathetic. I had higher hopes and generally am more optimistic, but I can't deny the dumpster fire on the DL.
The DT position has been neglected for decades. Hell, our latest early DT pick can't even stay active.

While that is certainly part of the problem, I was more eyeing Pats +9, Steelers +7, Cowboys -3 turover margin.

Eagles only +1 so they are kinda where they should be.

Despite feelings to the contrary and optimism that the D is improved every off season, it never is. In this case, however, I think fans were right to expect improvement in LVE, Smith, and the secondary. The DL is what it is and as long as they keep doing what they're doing with the DT's, that's not changing.

If there is really one huge difference between how most here feel and the FO feels, it is about the position of DT. I see that as the two critical building blocks of any D, followed by MLB and the S's. They don't share any of that and picked a player they didn't even know if he could play at MLB.

It might be a passing league but the majority of HC's and OC's first ask themselves 'can we run up the gut, the shortest distance between two points'? And too many use the stats as the measurement for a run D, that's only part of the story. Can the DC trust his D to make the stop when they have to make it?

Here's a fun fact CC: The last early round defensive tackle Dallas has drafted that was anywhere near relevant was back in 1991.

Starting my RB3 in fantasy with zero hesitation with my RB1 out on a bye. Expecting big things from Miles Sanders. Would at least lessen some of the sting of a loss a bit if he has a huge day.

So you are more concerned about fantasy football than a Cowboys win?
It is ok if we lose, but hey, I won at fantasy football. Ok then.

Not a knock on you, but it is a knock on fantasy football.

It has changed many fans true perspective on football.

And G, the last decent FA DT we got was La'roi Glover in 2002.

They drafted Hill because of the DC's relationship with Hill's former HC.

And I am not a DC but I might think about letting these DL stay in their gaps and keep the OL off the LB's before I'd start stunting them. Stunting is supposed to fool the O, it looks like some O's are just waiting for that. When Howard and Sanders make a run on Sunday night, when they replay that, look for where the DL was in that play. Hell, the RB doesn't have to wait for his OL to create a hole, the Cowboys' DL is doing that for him.

However, it is easy throw blame on coaching but the Rams have as good a DC as there is in the game with the best DT in the game and gave up 100 rushing to the Niners and two rushing TD's, the difference in the game.
