It definitely looked suspicious when Barnett got up and trotted off like he didn't have a care in the world. That stuff's gotta go! o_O

They should just do what they do in Futbol. Keep playing with the guy down on the field. After a few minutes of action, check-in on the guy with the training staff.

They can even bring out the "magic spray" to make it all better.

Very easy to fix: just make it so that any player that causes a clock-stop like that must sit out for the next 8 plays, regardless of series. Pretty sure that will clean this up...

The fake injury is bush league but I don’t want to see the refs have to make another subjective penalty call.
The reality is that fake injuries may look fake to everyone but what if that "fake" injury is a real injury that only the player feels like dizzyness, loss of senses, upset stomach etc.

If refs control handling injuries, NFL will have a lawsuit trying to play doctor by looking and determining what is one.

Players need to be fined for this. I get refs not seeing it during the game, but there needs to be repercussions for this kind of thing... certain teams do it way more than others.
It will be illegal when refs get medical degrees in triage and are given shields from lawsuits arising from moving a player prematurely.

No one knows what another ius feeling physically.

The fake injury gives the team a free timeout.

Which is wasted by giving the team more downs. Even if it was going to be second down, the automatic first down equals the other team having to use another time out. If it was going to be third down, that's in essence 2 time outs the team is forced to use.

I noticed that last night. That's the same BS Green Bay did a couple weeks ago. I think it was Preston Smith. The league needs to start fining players for obvious fake injuries otherwise players will keep doing it, and why wouldn't they if there is no consequence.

Buddy Ryan pretty much invented this...no big surprise there...

Why not force an injured player to miss 3 plays or even 4? Would eliminate this type of thing largely and could be sold as a "safety" initiative.
I think any time player misses an injury for any reason they should have to be out the rest of that drive. That’s the most fair way to do it

And banned for the following game or following games if it becomes a constant theme.

So if one of our key players is dinged on a play, you want to hold him out for three or four plays no matter what?

What if it's the final drive of the game and someone like Cooper got hurt and needed to limp off for a play? You want to face two or three downs without him when we wouldn't have to other than because of a stupid rule?

I understand that some are frustrated by these attempts to slow down the game, but I don't believe you can regulate it because of the possibility of it being a real injury. Players who truly have their bell rung or get stung can be down on the turf, checked out and jog off the field ... that doesn't mean their injury wasn't real.

Now, I'm fairly certain that Barnett was faking it, but I can't say that with absolute certainty. I think the benefit of the doubt has to go to the player in that situation.
Limping off is different than stopping the game for medical personnel to come evaluate you. If the game has to be stopped then you’re out the rest of the drive.

It would also speed up the game.
