Or it could also mean he just gets flat out outcoached by teams with winning record. There is reason why those teams have winning records. Coaching matters.
How do we explain beating Seattle in playoffs last year? Unless you don’t think Carroll is a better HC. They certainly had a winning record.

You remember the outlier and taking away YAC arguments used against Dak? Like that.

No, I don’t ?
Well that's no fun then. Anyway a bunch of idiots argued Dak's well above average passing games were outliers and Amari's YAC shouldn't be included in his stats. It was a desperate attempt to act like it never happened because it didn't fit their narrative.

Dallas is about average. We will see what happens when they play a good team in 2 weeks.

Yea, that’s idiotic. Not sure how that applies to this discussion but yea.

Using that illogical logic the win against Seattle is an outlier to be disregarded.

I'm obviously bored.
I was replying to someone who said we can’t beat winning teams with better coaches.

I can’t think of a more recent example that disputes his comment than our playoff win over Seattle.

I know I read it. Like I said I'm bored. On the actual topic I think what people really want is more consistency from week to week. Under Garrett's tenure this team has been a yoyo it seems. Nobody knows what team will show up from week to week and it's tiring. I was watching videos of Scandrick talking about the eagles the other day and I don't recall if it was during one of those or a different one since YouTube was on auto play. Anyway Shannon said the only thing free in this league is effort. It doesn't cost anything the teams he was on had a standard at that was it. I don't see that with this team at all and quite frankly don't remember when the last time I did was. I mean from game to game season to season. To me that's what is missing the most and that falls on the coaches more than the FO.

I suppose we all see different things or what we want to often based on our perceptions going in.

But I see a team that plays hard on the most part. It’s not like we’re being blown out. And most of the teams we are losing too I see as better teams on the most part.

I don’t see this as a championship contender. We have some talent but no Elite QB, Defense or HC. Tough to win it all or even play for championships without any of those .

I think with Garrett and this team we are what we are. We have fans expecting our coaching to put us over the top . Instead of our talent. Unfortunately Elite coaching isn’t a priority of this ownership.

We are a talent dependent franchise by the owners choosing. Any lack of talent in key areas could cost us.

I’d point to areas of concern we've missed on in recent drafts like DL which has cost our defense from becoming more Elite.

If you’re a talent dependent franchise then you can’t miss on your top picks in draft nor overcome key injuries.

We were favored to win that game. But judging how Seattle was playing we should have won by more. Garrett's conservative style and our bend but don't break defense kept Seattle close within striking distance.

Coaching certainly matters. Rams ran all over us. Yet its taken us this long to address this issue. There is no urgency with how Garrett operates.

Compare that Bellicheck. He is all about urgency and has a desire to win each and every year. Only time Garrett shows urgency is when his being threatened of being fired.

All I know is, we can NOT continue to call him the "clapper", I was on the fence about changing it to maybe, slappy, or high fivie, but after watching him, stand on the side lines with that "1000 yd stare/glare, none of the above fit him. Maybe I'll start calling him "stoney'! For that hard, glaring, "stoney" stare? Whatcha all think??? LOL:lmao:

I understand but I was responding to someone who said we can’t beat teams with winning records or better coaches. My response with Seattle was an example to directly dispute such claim.

First of all, I’m thrilled as a Cowboys fan with last night’s big win. Best performance of the year so far. Worth celebrating for sure. We’re in first place in the East at the bye week, with a lot of football yet to play.

But before forgetting about the head coach most Cowboys fans (me included) were fed up with last week, I decided to take a look at Jason Garrett’s record as a head coach as a way to remind all of us again who he really is as a coach. We have 9 years of evidence.

Jason Garrett is exactly what his record says he is...A good coach against bad teams, a below avg coach against good teams, especially in the playoffs.
  • Garrett’s Record against teams at or below .500: 56-14 (80% winning percentage)
  • Garrett’s Record against teams above .500: 25-45 (36% winning percentage)
  • Garrett’s Record in the playoffs: 2-3 (40% winning percentage)
Translation- Jason Garrett has been successful against bad teams, but not against good ones. In the games that have mattered the most, he has been 27-48. This year is all about him changing that awful trend in the playoffs or he should be gone.

As the Big Tuna famously once said, “You are what your record says you are.”

I note though that record only applies when we are not very good. When we went 13-3, the theory does not seem to apply

Garrett doesn't even have a coaching tree.
He doesn’t even have a coaching shrub.

Garrett has lawn trimmings — as in, every couple of years, Jerry mows down the assistant coaches and re-seeds JG’s staff.
