This mindset hurts the team. A lot. The personnel and team truly thinks they are contenders when true contenders don't go on a 3 game skid and lose against the 0-4 Jets.

This team will never be a contender as long as JG and Rod M are steering the boat.

He's said this multiple times over the years.

The issue is the unbridled optimism. It tends to make you unrealistic in honestly evaluating situations. "We can do it" is a great mindset but it tends to get in the way of "why aren't we able to do it"

The other problem is that Jerry is driven by validation. Garrett keeps his job because Jerry believed he would be the guy. The roster is fine because Jerry signed off on the moves. Admitting that changes are needed would be admitting that he was wrong. No one likes to be wrong but Jerry is driven by a need to appear to be a smart football guy. He isn't. He has way too much going on his professional life to be a dedicated football personnel guy. It's as true today as it was 24 years ago.

Why?

How did what Jerry Jones said on the radio today Tuesday October 29, 2019 help the organization in anyway? His speaking on the radio serves no purpose and basically fills voids in sports radio and on blogs/twitter.

I will always ask why, why does he do it, why does the rest of the family not tell him to stop, why do the local reporters/hosts/columnist get so excited to talk to him. Why?

Some people would rather just complain to keep up the status quo. If they let a Jerry thread go by without complaining about it, even though everything he said is true, they will look like they like him.

Jerry stated a fact, we have the POTENTIAL to be a superbowl contender. We have not played like one yet, but if we can stay healthy, improve our weak points, and step up and play to the best of our ability, and get into the playoffs, we definitely have a shot at the superbowl.

Anyone trying to pretend otherwise is just lying to themselves.

if talking could get jerry a superbowl he would have one every year but he will not make the necessary moves that will make this come true he wants all the credit until that changes they are what they are a average team with average coaches middle of the pack team who hasn't won a divisional playoff game In over 23 years and counting

It would be nice if there was someone in the room who could play devil's advocate to the untamed optimism that comes out of Jerry's mouth.

Having a GM that is incapable of having a critical eye towards the team is a huge detriment for this franchise.

There is nothing wrong with the tweet, even with the tweet's author being Jerry Jones. In fact, it is fairly atypical of Jones saying, "I don't think that the way we have played so far will get us there..." He is usually this rah-rah when the team is at .500 or below and the team has not been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

We all knew the excuses were coming. Jones has already lowered his standards and he is using injuries as the scape goat for why he will resign Garrett.
