Honestly Dak is not the problem here IMO. You could consider me a Dak-Groupie myself. However, this does not keep me from believing that this team is not as good as we once believed.[/QUO

LOL....ok then I guess every team we lose to will hang at least 30+ points on us....

you know it's been 5 years since we went 8-8 right? Since then we have 1 losing season. Why would we all of a sudden go back to that?

Level of competition remaining....Garrett's record against teams with winning records is not in our favor. The next 9 games are the toughest he's had in about 5 years...so there's that.

10 to 12 wins. Less than that only happens with severe injuries to multiple starters. ie: the Jets game.

Thats what they said last year before a 7-1 run into the playoffs. Even the 9-7 season where Zeke missed 6 games and green was paid to get Dakky killed. We still had a winning record by a hair.

Let me see this team against MIN first as I see that game as a tell about this team. And I want to see the Eagles against the Bears D this weekend as well as far as winning the East as I do not see a WC team in the East.

If I had to pick the playoff outcome today, I would not bet on the Cowboys getting beyond WC weekend.

Do you know who they've beaten? Dolphins, Giants, Jets, Bengals and Titans. Combined record of those teams, after deducting the Bills' win over them?

7-26, and the Titans have 4 of those wins, other than the Titans their opponents are 3-23.

They lost the the 4-4 Eagles, that we blew out by 27 pts, 31-13. Sure the Pats' loss was close but that was a division game that they put a max effort into, but still lost, can't pick out one close loss and say they're a pretty good team.

They didn't just "make it close", they made Brady look absolutely terrible. That's the point. Everyone knows the Bills offense is limited, their defense is not fluky though. They are not average.

And LOL at putting the Jets on the list of teams they beat while ignoring the fact that Dallas got stomped by them for 3 quarters.

I am thinking 7-9. I see us losing to the Giants this week. Hard for me to write that, but I feel it. Hopefully I am wrong.

I see a pattern within your win-loss column. We win every other 2 games? Or is that just a coincidence?

People need to look at the OP's posting history and thread starts since he joined this year before taking this thread seriously.

Cowboys Coaches Career NFL Regular Season winning percentage
  • 62.5% - Barry Switzer - 40-24 (Dallas)
  • 60.7% - Tom Landry - 250-162-6 (Dallas)
  • 56.9% - Bill Parcells - 172-130-1 (New York Giants, New England, New York Jets, Dallas) - 53.1% in Dallas
  • 56.6% - Jason Garrett - 81-62 (Dallas)
  • 56.2% - Wade Phillips - 82-64 (New Orleans, Denver, Buffalo, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston) - 60.7% in Dallas
  • 55.6% - Jimmy Johnson - 80-64 (Dallas and Miami) - 55.0% in Dallas
  • 42.5% - Chan Gailey - 34-46 (Dallas and Buffalo) - 56.3% in Dallas
  • 31.3% - Dave Campo - 15-33 (Dallas)
Notably, only Dave Campo has a losing record as a Head Coach in Dallas.

Note that after this week's game against the Giants, Jason Garrett will have exactly the same amount of games coached as Jimmy Johnson did in his NFL career with Dallas and Miami. Garrett has a slightly better regular season record than Jimmy Johnson, but Jimmy obviously has a better playoff record. Notably, Jimmy Johnson's playoff record in Miami is identical to the 2-3 playoff record Garrett has in Dallas. (I've always believed that Jimmy and Jerry fed off each other, and neither has been as good separate as they were together.)

Cowboys Coaches Playoff winning percentage
  • 55.6% - Tom Landry - 20-16 - 2nd all-time wins
  • 57.9% - Bill Parcells - 11-8 - 10th all-time wins (0-2 in Dallas)
  • 69.2% - Jimmy Johnson - 9-4 - 20th all-time wins (7-1 in Dallas)
  • 71.4% - Barry Switzer - 5-2 - 32nd all-time wins
  • 40.0% - Jason Garrett - 2-3 - 78th all-time wins
  • 16.7% - Wade Phillips - 1-5 - 123rd all-time wins (1-2 in Dallas)
  • 0.0% - Chan Gailey - 0-2 (0-2 in Dallas)
  • N/A - Dave Campo - no playoff appearances

I agree the schedule looks/looked way tougher than it did a few weeks back.

Games like the Vikings, Bills, Bears, Rams didn’t seem like we would win these a few weeks back. I see us winning them.

Only three games that really scare me are Vikings (they’ve heated up), Patriots (chalk that up as an L) and @ Philly

Why do these suddenly appear winnable to you? Did you see the Jets game as winnable or no?

absolutely.

I simply meant, looking at the schedule before the season, those games were more than likely a loss.

they have flaws just like us and we now have a better chance at winning.
