Does Frank Gore make you nervous for Emmitt's record?

The fact that Emmitt Smith holds the rushing records has zero bearing on how I feel about his career.

If Gore breaks the record, it doesn't mean I'll believe Gore is better than Smith (or Sanders).

I personally think Jim Brown is the best RB of all time and he probably had half the yards Emmit had...

The fact that Emmitt (A Cowboy) is the NFL all time leading rusher is a big deal to me. The fact that he did it as a Cowboy is also a big deal to me. I would never tell you how to think as a fan but that achievement is just the stuff of legend. We're talking Rice, Jim Brown, Sweetness... that special room in the HOF type stuff.

He is 100 yards away from Barry Sanders and will be probably around 2800 from Emmitt by years end.

Surprising he still gets carries but he is still chugging away. I would think he would get replaced pretty soon!

Realistically 4 more seasons as a starter. I wouldn't put it past him. The guy is a machine. And his last couple of seasons his ypc are actually up.

Science is magic. Brady keeps playing. Brees too. Gore is a freak. Science + Freak + Clear Goal may be enough.

Speaking of freaks, Witten breaks into top 20 for yardage past Art Monk this week. Needs 11 yards. Makes it past Irving Fryar to 19, then has 300 more yards to catch Largent.

Witten needs 148 reception to pass Gonzalez. Probably not gonna happen, just because I don't see him chasing the record around the league like Gore.

Outside of his family and friends (and maybe not even them), does anybody really consider Frank Gore in the class of the all-time great running backs in NFL history?

I thought about this and concluded...Gore won't get enough snaps to touch Emmitt and maybe Sweetness.

Who is gonna sign Gore as a lead RB after this season? Idk.

Buffalo signed him this year. He plays cheap and he's producing. Budget franchises like those guys.

Hell, *we* like those guys. McFadden. Morris. As long as Gore plays this cheap with this production, he has a place in the league.

OTC values him at 4.5mil. He's playing for 2. A value proposition.

That wasn't the question. The man has had a great career and has played at a high level for a long time. And let's be realistic - Emmitt has the record because he played longer than Barry.

Obviously Emmitt was great in his own right, but the point is that longevity plays into a record like career yardage, and if a player plays long enough and well enough to sit amongst the top in that category, he deserves to be there.

Sounds crazy but as long as Jason Garrett is around, I think the RB with the best chance of breaking Emmitt’s record might be Zeke.

Yeah that guy is still going. It’s possible not likely,2,800...he’d still not be considered in Sanders or Emmitt status. I do think Gore though is a HOF and one of the last true old style RBs.

Not even a bit.

Records are made to be broken. Gore is a classy guy and a hard-nosed player. I'm guessing this is his last season, but if not and he resets the record, good for him.

Emmitt is the greatest of all-time, not even a discussion on that.

To top Emmitt , Frank needs a few rings, a few rushing titles, wear a star on his helmet and then go on to win Dancing with the Stars.
Go Dallas!!!
Emmitt is my favorite player of all time, but no, he's not the greatest by a long shot

Brown, Payton, and Sanders were better.

Absolutely. Why wouldn't people? I'm not understanding why not.

Nah, someone will eventually break Emmitt's record, but that won't take anything away from what he accomplished just like Emmitt's breaking the record didn't take anything away from Walter Payton. I still have mad respect for Payton and always will, and so should any football fan, whether a Bears fan or not.

Zeke :D

For the same reason, as much as I admire and respect him, I don't consider Dirk Nowitzki one of the greatest all-time players in NBA history. Longevity is an wonderful thing, but it doesn't make a player one of the greatest.

Here's 10 off the top of my head I'd pick before Gore. Without really thinking about it.

Brown
Sanders
Payton
Sayers
Peterson
Smith
Dorsett
Dickerson
Jackson
Simpson

Then why are you putting Emmit up there? They're the same back.
