were you clutching your pearls when you wrote that? You seem livid over a couple of guys being late for a meeting.

I'm "livid" that two adult men under a contract and making good money can't get to work on time a few days before a game and a dopey coach giving them a free day....a few days before a game.

I would disagree with that assessment.

I've sent employees home for various disciplinary reasons. Many times this led to other employees on shift at the time to have to work harder by picking up the responsibilities of those sent home.

While the employees sent home lost pay for the day, by far the biggest concern for them was the loss of respect garnered from the other hourly guys, dudes don't like it when others aren't pulling their share when every one else is.

It's a powerful consideration in my experience.

Yeah, great anecdote - and I've fired people who continue to show they would rather be home than at work.

We're not talking about stocking cans at a local retail which can be done by any monkey with little to no training. These are adults in a physically violent game that need all the practice they can get before a game which is a few days away.

Now they both got to go home and sit around on their butts, and it seems Hill would rather sleep his life away than become a starter. I say let him stay there. Next man up.

stop relating this to whatever you do. Whatever you does not matter and it doesn't equate in anyway to what an nfl team does or what pro athletes do.

....that's the opposite of what my post said. Maybe read it again? Maybe read who I was responding to? Maybe think for one time?

Maybe they should be paid more, right? Maybe that's why these players aren't showing up. They aren't making enough money, like you suggested earlier today...like a know nothing.

Perhaps we live in competely different stratospheres but isn't obvious that when players are late for meetings they need to be repremanded? After all, isn't this part of the problem with our team? When things like this happen the hammer needs to fall end of story. My original statement was in regards to giving kudos to the cowboys organization for giving out punishment and if you think being sent away from practice isn't punishment I won't waste anymore time trying to persuade you. This makes these guys look irresponsible in the eyes of their peers and if they have their act together at all they will learn from these mistakes, or LET GO>

Yes, which is why I made the point that I'm not against disciplinary action. I just don't want to see this become habit with our young team.

How does Rod Marinelli have a job?
Pretty sure he pinned the address of the practice facility to their backpacks when he put them on the bus this morning.

But you do make a valid point because Marinelli went to bat for Hill and this reflects on Marinelli with Hill's work ethic questioned, which begins with showing up on time, every time.

Group dynamics are a thing even if you don't think so. I guess we can disagree on how much affect they have.

I'm not sure what the stocking cans analogy meant, i't didn't pertain to my 'anecdote'.

I will say this however, they are both participating in practice today, which i disagree with. To drive these types of points home the consequences have to extend beyond the day it occurred to have a lasting effect.

I would not have allowed them back to practice today.

Disappointing that this would happen, especially after a bye week!

Obviously, Garrett is trying desperately to instill discipline.

Here's hoping it isn't far too late for that, by now!
Well, it's way too darn late. 9 years too late!!!!

It;s the Garrett CULTURE here that allowed something like this to happen in the first place.
He had no choice but to act. How many other teams would this happen on?
We like our guys ?
This team and it's management/ownership are a JOKE!"!!

Hmm... Late, rushed wife to hospital.
Late, what time was I supposed to be here?
Yes, you are correct. They are the same, and both deserve swift punishment.

Call ahead. That's what missing practice for personal reasons is all about. You see that on practice reports all the time

I'll give you points for humor erod, but these guys are professionals or learning how to be, so being sent home isn't something they want on their resume, and if they don't care this will be good indicators that they should be cut. The question is has the FO learned from it's mistakes and possibly taking some responsibility for the country club circus that enables these guys.
Dez was late almost every day.

And probably fine. I don't get it, you'll ask for accountability, then complain when it happens. They can't win with you'll
Giving them the day off isn't accountability.

Hill should be cut. We know where this is headed. He's a bust.
