No, you can't do that for "32 teams", teams that win the Super Bowl normally have quality players in these key positions. Why do you guys say dumb stuff like this?

Patriots last season had a top rated Gilmore and McCourty in the secondary
Eagles had Jenkins and Cox
Denver had Miller and Ware
Ravens had Lewis and Reed
Seahawks had Sherman, Chancellor, and a great rotation at DE
Giants had JPP and Tuck

You see where this is going? We have had bum safeties, average corners, and Lawrence.

You are the idiot saying dumb things..I said 53 star players..not two..every super bowl team has 2 star players..you see where this is going?

I’ve yet to see us us lose to a team in the playoffs we were better than with Garrett with exception in 2016. Overall we had a better team and at home but Packers had the most talented player on the field who ultimately made the difference.

Last year we weren’t one of the best final 4 teams. Back in 2014 with Romo, had a great offense but less than average defense. Not championship caliber. 2007 was probably the worse missed opportunity.

Yes, we’ve had some talented teams and why we’ve won some divisions and been on the verge of advancing to a championship game . But overall I haven’t seen a true championship caliber team here in about 25 years. Not on both sides of the ball.

Nobody suggested you need 53 all-pros. No one. The problem is our team has holes at KEY POSITIONS and quality depth.

You're coming in with an argument that wasn't made.

Seeing as how the Giants beat the Patriots that year, I would say the Giants were a better team as well. Kept everyone in the playoffs to 20 points or less.

Defense: Ignoring 1-Tech, ignoring Safety, lack of turnovers, poor scheme, that’s on Rod.

Offense: Drive killing penalties, dated scheme, and drops. That’s on Garrett.

What am missing?

They definitely got hot in the playoffs but were not the better team that season as we swept them in regular season. They had a great DL which pressured and disrupted Brady and Eli made a huge play to close the game out.

Giants winning it all that year is one of the best examples that the best team doesn’t always win in single elimination tourney. It’s why they’re called upsets.

Dallas has had and has now a large number of the most talented NFL players in the league during Garrets tenure. I’m not a Garret hater. I always hoped he would learn and evolve but he has not.

Many of our most talented players moved on to teams where they won super bowls and their talent suddenly got better out from under Jerry and Garret.

There is no way you can take the talent on this team and lose to 2019 Jets unless there are fundamental serious errors and lack of coaching talent on this team.

From observing Dallas games and Patriots games you see where Belichek does not just prepare his team against the other team and their play book. He literally plans and coaches his team how to defeat the other teams 11 players on the field. It really is like Garret is coaching a checkers game while Belichek is coaching chess.

Garret just does not see the big picture and that is why he loses to the worst teams in the league. I imagine in Patriot prepping the players actually study the guys they will be matched up against week to week and Belichek and his staff likely already have player vs player templates and scheme to defeat each opposing player, not just the opposing plays and scheme which is also important.

If you ever watch Alabama play, you see the same depth of coaching and preparation. That is why they win.

That is why so many talented Cowboy players have wasted their careers under Garret. He had his shot and time to adjust and he failed.
We lost the games against the Saints because we couldn't hold onto the football -- I think I can blame the players for that.

Jones continues to live in the past and builds teams with the idea that superior talent wins. We did win 3 super bowls that way, which the benefit a one in a lifetime trade and hitting on some key draft picks. But in the salary cap era its not sustainable to just have better players than 90% of the teams. So we continue to pay for top talent and then try to get high risk reward players on the cheap to fill in the rest of the gaps -- hence our defensive draft picks and FA pickups for the last 25 years. Inevitably many of these high risk reward players are unavailable or simply bust.

Worse is that when I our high priced talent is injured we have subpar backups because we don't have cap space to pay better ones -- look at who was out for the Jets game and this is how we lose to them despite our "talent". This philosophy extends to the coaching staff who continue to believe that you can just line up and out execute people to win without the benefit of scheme.

So I partially agree with you in that Belichick is the better coach because he tries to extract every advantage possible, and they build a team for the salary cap era rarely paying top dollar for someone and instead opting for a deep team. Conversely Jones has built the highest value franchise because people like pretty things and the Cowboys with all of their stars are pretty.

It goes so far beyond coaching though. You can blame the fans too because when things go wrong who is blamed -- Dak, Romo, Lawrence, and Ware as if anytime we lose it is because our best players don't will the rest of the 22 guys to victory by making the play at the right time.

Amendola(I think)

Church should have been playing in a super bowl, but the NFL could not allow a JAX/PHILLY super bowl!!!!!
Jerry let Ware go because we were rebuilding and he had a chance to join an already stellar defense in Denver. Jerry knew we weren't going anywhere soon and he did him a favor. He didn't play any better in Denver than he did in Dallas he was awesome in Dallas.

Marty B was let go in 2011 and 3 teams and 6 years later he joined the 2017 patriots. He was such a cog that they let him go to Green Bay the very next year.

Amendola was on our practice squad in 2008. Then spent a year on the Eagles practice squad before joining the Rams where he actually got to play in an NFL game . It wasn't until 9 years later that he won a Superbowl with the Patriots.

With the risk of repeating myself , Garett's philosophy is not to fit the players strengths into the scheme and maximising their potential but expecting the players to fit the scheme ( of 90s) where pure execution will outperform the opponent every time. Rods defense is same philosophy, stop the run on way to QB - worked with Simeon Rice and Warren sapp but not ever since.

I just wonder if they study the opponents and devise individual gameplans on every other player.

The Rams game & Colts game from last year comes to mind where we were outplayed by exploiting our weaknesses.

All that matters is the playoffs. They simply became a better team than the rest of the league and their defense and QB blossomed into champions at the right time. Our defense showed signs of being frauds and our offense showed it's wrinkles.

It is what it is. Sucks that the Giants got through us in 2007 and 2011 for trophies.

Talent does not always equal team. Have the Cowboys had the talent to win another and it was under coached? That is an assumption that I would agree with in 2 of the last 23 seasons.

Talent, a good team, doesn't just have to play in the playoffs, they have to prepare to play and the Cowboys failed to do that when they had homefield and a good enough team to win it all.

The real question is what other HC would have done better other than Belichick? If there was an abundance of great HC's in the NFL, they wouldn't be replacing 20-25% of them every year.

The NFL is fixed, period. Proof, Egals winning their 1st SB with a backup QB. 4th and goal, Matt Ryan tosses a pick in Philly was more than enough proof in the pudding yet once again.

Not to mention cry baby Rodgers wins the refs gave him thus far. The list goes on.
Ridiculous.

so we should over look the fumbling, bad blocking, poor tackling and penalties that lost us the Saints game? The interceptions and penalties and a defense that could not stop a sneeze that put us behind the GB game? We should overlook a very poor defensive outing in the jets game where DBs couldn't cover and our DL couldn't get pressure on that teams offense or all the dropped passes?

players are to blame for mistakes and poor execution's that lead to losses..

Sure we can see and blame the coaches for obvious play calling or game plan gaffs etc but those 3 looses were 75% on the players...they are millionaires play a professional game and will be accountable for their level of execution and mistakes being made..they dont need baby sitter, they are PRS and most are VEts making these mistakes..

that Rams playoff game was a Coaching issue, 2016 GB playoff loss was 50% coaching and some poor defensive exectuion..2014 remember Murray fumbling and Baily missing 2 easy FGs, bad Ref on Dez catch..yes thats not on the coaches thats other factors..

again I know we lack elite coaching but this year those 3 looses im putting squarely on the players..period..watch the games mistakes cost us all of them..

Tunnelvision is objective criticism's worst enemy for applying appropriate blame onto management, coaching and/or players.
