Our linebackers were whiffing on first contact literally almost every running play. LVE and Jaylon couldn't tackle Cook last night if he was in a wheelchair.

I did notice on a few plays where the interior got some good penetration but it basically allowed the Minnesota OL to advance to the second level and maul us.

I saw this too on the all 22, they were just letting dline go by and getting up field to the 2nd level.

Because Marinelli thinks that big, gap clogging DTs are the ugliest things on the planet. If you don't have a quick first step, high motor, then you can't be a 1-gap shooter for his "rush men".

Because the Hot Butter Boyz prefer to step aside and attempt a hand-tackle versus trying to blast someone.
Saw way to much of THAT hot crap last night... soft, face it this defense is soft crumbly, mushy *** toast. like SOS on toast after sitting for an hour.

******* outdated scheme, with coaches who refuse to value the DT position, and think they’re smart by going against the grain and refusing to plug in a fat guy in the middle.

I have never had any faith in marinelli. Last year I was glad to see Richard taking over the difference. Now that opinion is quickly fading.

You know, I know it's popular to say, it's Marinelli, and I get that, but.........

I think it's important to remember why Marinelli was brought here. He was brought here to do more with less. Remember, Jerry and the team were tired of paying high salaries for DTs. They brought Marinelli in to do more with less. I mean, you can really only do that to a point before the talent catches up with you. If you look at that scheme, where you shoot gaps and try to be disruptive with your DL, lots of stunting etc. you expose your LBs. Look at the LBs we have drafted. Good talent, no question about that but, none of them are physical run stopping LBs. They are run and chase LBs and that's a problem if you aren't going to bring in the talent at DT to cover up your LBs. This, to me, isn't necessarily a problem with the players as much as it is with the decision we have made from a personnel perspective. We fell in love with great athletes at LB but forgot that we need to have a guy who can meet a Guard in the hole and plug it. That LB is critical to the run and chase guy because if you don't stonewall that OL at the LOS, he gets to the second level and creates a lane for the RB. We are not physical at the point of attack.

Anybody who doubts this, just watch how we played the Vikings Run Game. Watch ho poorly we played a team who had a FB who knows how to lead block. I mean, how in the world do you get to the Pros where you don't even know how to play defense against a FB lead blocking run game. They had no clue. How does this happen? I suppose it's because teams don't run anymore and when they do, they do it as a change of pace to the passing game. I just couldn't believe it but I saw it so I know it's true.

With Minnesota missing their top receiver, Dallas did not commit to stopping their run.

The first half, Minnesota moved their entire offensive line in a side direction, and the Cowboys rarely penetrated in that flow. The runs were off tackle and outside the end.

Linebacker flow was blocked and dominant pressure outside-in was not maintained.

The second half, the fullback and tight end cut off flow towards the outside, and outside lanes remained.

The Vikings used a lot of screens and tight ends to success. Especially in the Red Zone.

From the start, Minnesota set the tone and what kind of the game that would be followed. Dallas changed this little...

..bad....bad....bad...coaching. Dallas has the talent but no brains to guide it.

Because the entire back seven of the defense is being coached to play on their heels.

Sean Lee had probably his worst game last night. I've never seen him look that bad.

Cook had 97 yards on 26 carries for a 3.7 average as the leagues leading rusher. You take out the one 23 yard carry and he was 74 for 25 or a 2.9 average. The few times he got in space defenders bounced off him. They didn't run over, over match or take advantage of an imaginary 1tech deficiency. They were just persistent in running the ball and our offense did nothing to force them out of that game plan!
