That is Frederick's assignment. It should not have been a difficult block for Frederick.

Exactly. Look at the presnap alignment and it's straight up Fred all the way. He should have been able to handle this. Look at the still photo again and see the lane. Look at the LB and then look at how it opens up if Williams gets his LB, which he would, and how much green Zeke has in front of him if Fred gets his man.

I have a feeling this is going to end up being one of those, be careful what you wish for moments. We just got weaker along the OL and Dak now has to be much more worried about the pass rush. We better get the run game figured out because we will likely be running the ball much more.

Like I said in another thread, pretty sure every player/coach KNOW who's at fault on the last series of plays but they are not throwing them under the bus. Imagine Garrett or Stephen calling Frederick out for losing the game coz missed block...

It won’t. This team loses anytime 1 person is injured. We can’t adapt to injuries.
So, we lost last week when LVE was out, and to Miami and the Giants when Gallup was out, and to Washington and the Giants when Quinn was out?

No but since we’re talking about an offensive players, we lost when Gallup was out (Saints), Tyron (Packers+Jets), La’el (Jets), Amari (Jets), and Cobb (Jets). Also, We never played the Giants without Gallup.

Fred was incredibly slow off the snap. He almost looked confused how slow he was. If Williams blocks the DT, Fred isn’t going to be on Kendricks anyways and he has free run to blow the play up. Kendricks was Williams man and the DT was Freds. The only thing that makes any sense is he thought Williams was going to chip the DT on his way out. It may not have been the easiest block with him slanting towards the playcall, but Fred could have got there if he was out of his stance quicker. This one feels like it’s on him to me.

I was thinking Gallup was out for the Giants and Dolphins, but still, we did win one of the two games when Gallup was out, and, of course, you didn't say we can't win with an offensive player out, you said we can't win with even one player out.

Of course, Williams missed a number of games last year, and Frederick missed the entire season last year, and we still won enough to get to the playoffs, so it's probably not fair to say we can't win any games with Williams out this year.

travis Frederick got beaten like a rented mule on this run. It’s sad this run could have been successful if he got his hands on his man

The more I watch and see the play the more it looks to me that Frederick got beat off the line. The Vikes called the perfect play as they were slanting right. You can see Conner heading to the second level to get the MLB (#54) which looks like his assignment from the snap.

There are plenty of other plays to highlight Williams getting manhandled, but I don't think this is one of them.
What does this picture show other than a play designed for Williams to block at the next level?
Disagree. C-Will needed to clip the defender a bit longer there before going upfield to the second level. He barely grazed him. You cannot get sloppy there on short yardage. All we need was 2 yards, secure the first block.

You may be right that Williams needed to give the DT a bit more chip than he did - I don't know if that's true, but it seems reasonable that might have been the case. But folks here are acting as if he missed a block he was supposed to make, and he did not.
