Connor Williams will have surgery on his knee Tuesday but the hope is he will be able to return after a few weeks. Xavier Su'a-Filo will likely move into the left guard role, which is how the Cowboys handled Williams' absence last year because of a knee scope.

Now we go on our run, just like last season!

I though Xavier did a good job at filling in last season. I wish Connor a speedy recovery.

Better than a public benching.

Maybe now the run blocking will improve. XSF should’ve been starting a long time ago. Williams is an undersized bust

Williams is supposed to hold up that guy so the center can get there but you saw that he just brushed by him, zero resistance. Now Fred could also be slower than you'd like, that i don't know, but the first thing they even showed on the broadcast.

That’s a combo block that Williams whiffed on. Frederick isn’t going to get there in time. On that play they both appeared stunned the DT didn’t attack the gap, the delay threw them off. In any case, Williams has to chip that guy to give Frederick time to get there. Williams eventually works his way to the next level...

Like I said in another thread, pretty sure every player/coach KNOW who's at fault on the last series of plays but they are not throwing them under the bus. Imagine Garrett or Stephen calling Frederick out for losing the game coz missed block...
Its not just 1 play or 1 block, it was the whole sequence of crap unfolding one play after another...

Exactly. Look at the presnap alignment and it's straight up Fred all the way. He should have been able to handle this. Look at the still photo again and see the lane. Look at the LB and then look at how it opens up if Williams gets his LB, which he would, and how much green Zeke has in front of him if Fred gets his man.

I have a feeling this is going to end up being one of those, be careful what you wish for moments. We just got weaker along the OL and Dak now has to be much more worried about the pass rush. We better get the run game figured out because we will likely be running the ball much more.
Sua-Filo is a streaky player. Very good for several plays then completely whiffs Chaz Green style.

At least we know he is OK based on his play last season.
