Is Dak the greatest QB bargain in NFL history?

Dak is just shutting his mouth and letting his playing on the field speak. They should signed him earlier in the season, because if he keeps these numbers up he will be worth a lot. We need to sign Amari and him ASAP.
Deadlines cause deals to be made. Right now there's on urgency to get them signed.

Nobody has named another QB who has played as well as Dak has for 4 years while earning less than 1% of the team’s salary cap or player payroll over that period.

I’m still waiting for your answer. The fact that you don’t have one proves my point.

That's only because the other QB's mentioned in this thread basically all won SB's in their 1st 3 seasons and earned a big raise before their 4th seasons. So basically Dak is still a bargain compared to the others because he wasn't good enough to get that deal after his 3rd season, so lets compare salaries and bargains for the QB's mentioned here for their 1st 3 seasons

Better pay up cause this show does travel.

Sean Payton would love Dak down in New Orleans...

You telling me Payton would take Dak at 35 million plus over Bridgewater at around 20 to 25?

Bud, not every team has Jerry Jones as their GM lol

Bro, with these guys it's always some weird twisting of numbers that make Dak look good no matter what lol..

I don’t disagree that a Super Bowl is priceless, but Dak has played well enough to win one.

I’m not saying he’s Brady, since Brady is in a class by himself compared to all QB’s and all NFL players.

But winning a Super Bowl requires a good team at all levels, including coaching, which is something we lack.

I’m still not convinced there has been a bigger bargain over a 4 year period. The fact that we haven’t been able to capitalize on that is disappointing. I feel like we missed an opportunity that won’t happen again.

Why would you be surprised or even disappointed at this point. We blew through one franchise QB without winning a Super Bowl for ten years what’s another four years with Dak.

Oh...this just in - we aren’t winning one this year either.

Russell Wilson, Kurt Warner (I know Kurt wasn't 4 years before a new deal, but I'll take those performances of 3 years over 4 years of team failure) edit: I misread Kurts contract history, he was a bargain for 5 years actually.

The question should be though, is Dak going to be worth $40 mil after we fail to reach a SB on his rookie contract? We're going to be dealing with opposite ends of his contract and most likely the same results.

I wonder how Dak would do with that 49er defense and coaching staff instead of Jimmy G

Tom Brady won two Superbowls with two Superbowl MVP awards his first four years for a little under $5 million. That actually included the first year of his second contract since he signed a 3 year deal after getting drafted.

So no it really isn't the biggest QB bargain in NFL history. (His first three years, including a superbowl win, cost the Patriots about $865,000 total).

Tom Brady in answer to the opening poster for the above reasons. Russell Wilson next.

You have to ask yourself this question - what would the record of this team be with a young Brady or Wilson?

7-2 or 8-1 in my opinion even with the coaching.

Tom Brady was drafted in 2000 (199th pick) and signed a 3 year contract for $864,000. But his contract was redone in 2002 (5 years, $30.5 million with $10 million signing bonus) after he guided the Patriots to their first Super Bowl win at the end of the 2001. So Brady was a bargain for 2 years.

Russell Wilson was drafted in 2012 (75th pick) snd signed a 4 year contract for $2.99. But his contract contract was redone in 2015 (4 years, $87.6 million making him, at the time, the second highest paid player in the NFL). So Wilson was a bargain for 3 years.

My question remains, has there ever been been a bigger QB bargain over a 4-year period than Dak?

Wilson won the Super Bowl. So any argument of value gets thrown out the door.

Dak signed a four year, $2.7 million contract with the Cowboys following his selection as the 135th pick in the 2016 NFL draft.

This year he will earn just over 1% of the team’s cash payout.

My question is, has there ever been a bigger QB bargain in the history of the NFL over a 4-year stretch than one the Cowboys have gotten with Dak? I don’t think so, but if I’m wrong please tell me.

It bothers me that the team has signed players of much lower ability to huge contracts while they haven’t yet gotten a deal done with their best player.

They should have won a Super Bowl during this 4-year window because they won’t ever get a bargain like this again. Poor coaching and management are hard to overcome.

ahem...brady!? won superbowl in his second year as the 6th round pick
ahem, Wilson? won superbowl and went to another one as a 3rd round pick

come on man

100% correct. That and Zeke's rookie contract. They should have gone all-in. Instead we get alligator arms Stephen Jones and Jason Garrett. And here we are...

what's your point in posting the original comment? what's the purpose? at this point, it seems you are just arguing to win an argument!!

has played well enough to win one, is a spin. the fact is he didn't win. he didn't come close to an MVP. etc. How about Kirck Cousins in DC? he was a 4th rounder?

again, what's your point with your original comment? what are you trying to accomplish with your argument?

Not the biggest. Of course Russell Wilson and Brady has organizations that capitalized on it and won titles. Unlike the Cowboys whose owner is trying to invent his own way of winning.

Brady. he has a superbowl ring in his first 2 years. nothing trumps that. since you decided to include performance as part of the measure....now we can get into this long debate about Dak, wins, vs. QBR, vs. yards, vs....etc
