I understand enough to know that you don't block the entire defense with only five linemen.
This apparently escapes the Cowboys.

So the TE's don't count?

The fact is that we didn't pay Zeke to run through gaping holes. Any rb can do that. We pay zeke to make someone miss and break tackles. He's been an inferior version of himself. There aren't many OL's better than this one but there are a whole lot of rbs playing better than our 90 million dollar man.

I trust Dak and his personality way more than I do zekes.
Exactly, Dak's work ethic has earned my respect. If he continues to progress throughout the remainder of this season then the franchise tag is in order in my book, I need to see sustained franchise QB proficiency before I commit 30+ million annually to any signal caller.

So that makes him worst 90 million of our cap space? He runs over 1 guy this year and blocks? He only has 1 run of more than 20 yards through 9 games. There have been at least 3 games this year where he wasn't the best back on the field, let alone the NFL.

I didn’t say 1 word about the contract.

Sunday night's game showed exactly why ANY player on the Dallas Cowboys should use any leverage they have to force the Joneses to pay them.
Ezekiel Elliott knew that he might struggle at times, and the history of the Cowboys under Garrett shows that, more often than not, the Cowboys will tank and someone will have to take the blame.
Garrett isn't about to, and Elliott replaced DeMarco Murray, who had been a league leading rusher since coming to the Cowboys and playing out his rookie contract.
So now it's easy to discount how good Elliott is because so many fans don't understand the complexities of a run game and blocking schemes, and the Cowboys desire to be a pass happy team is obvious.
Elliott is a star. He plays like one.
But even he can't overcome the perennial mediocrity that the Cowboys have repeatedly proven to suffer under the Garrett/Jones "Let's try this" philosophy.
Maybe so, he needs to run hard. If he hits a hole and its not there he's done. The vikings back was like an animal getting hit by multiple guys and kept going. Something needs to give. Our schedule only gets harder and the Eagles is alot easier. We're in for a tough ride. Hope we can do it!!!!!

Forcing through a new contract simply made sense if Zeke could make it happen. He judged Jerry right. Jerry caved.

Tip of the hat to Zeke's agent.

Note that Zeke had a weak hand, as he needed to come back eventually to accrue a season if he ever wanted to play in the NFL beyond the Cowboys.

I agree with the thread title but for different reasons. Zeke was smart to hold out because he is a depreciating asset at an undervalued position where players have historically short shelf-lives.

He cashed in while his value was still high, as opposed to letting the Cowboys string him along for another two seasons, likely significantly lessening his value.

Potentially a bad move for the Cowboys, but a very, very smart one for Zeke.

Spot on. The Cowboys owned his rights for so long that he really had very little leverage, other than the fact that his mere absence threatened this year's team's shot at a Super Bowl.

The Cowboys caved. Many other successful organizations trust their process and don't cave to such demands.

Zeke Who? that quickly changed. This team is being built the same as always. To few are taking up much cap space.

Nice post but the difference is the vikes RB was several players deep before getting hit or tackled or if one on one we didn’t wrap him up. Zeke as best I can recall was gang tackled more often than not. My take

LOL

He's barely broken a tackle this year, and he's now about as quick as a fullback.

He's woefully inferior to McCaffrey, Cook, and other guys.

I think he's gone after two more seasons, and I'm somebody who has stated multiple times that he's the heart of this team.

Perhaps he is. And that doesn't speak well of the heart of this team.
Last season did it I’m telling y’all
