Bosa did last year.

Bosa got injured in week 3 and missed the rest of the regular season because of it. The only game he chose not to play was the Rose Bowl, but said if the Buckeyes were in the CFP he would've played.

If I remember the biggest part of Bo's injury was they didn't catch it right away. I could definitely be wrong about that it's been a long time.

He shut it down October 16th and said he was done. I get what you are saying though that with the expected recovery time, he essentially would have missed the games and could have been back by the bowl game, but with it only being Week 3, he had no idea that they couldn't have been a playoff team. He announced week 3 that he was nit coming back. A lot of fans claimed he "quit on his team."

Personally, I understand the risk and "business decision." I want competitors but when you are a for-sure top 5 pick, there's some practicality to not gambling it and just getting ready for the NFL Draft.

We're already seeing it with non-top 10 or non-elite prospects shutting it down for meaningless bowl games. I think we will see more of it in the future.

This statement is completely false. He signed with an agent in November and had long since withdrawn from classes. He would not have been eligible (academically or amateur status-wise) to play in the CFP.

I hear people comparing Tua's injury with Bo's, but I don't think it's the same.
First, Bo ran with such force, power and speed that he (I read this somewhere) tore his hip bone straight from its socket and tore all the ligaments and tendons associated with keeping the bone in the hip joint. Tua's injury doesn't seem as bad in comparison.
Second, Bo got injured nearly 30 years ago. Medicine, medical technology and surgery have progressed by leaps and bounds since then.
Third, I hope Tua does drop to our first-round pick. Take him and don't look back. He's a once-in-a-generation quarterback. Doctors say they expect a full recovery, but he's not going to be ready at least until his second year in the league.

And that he wrenched it with such force and power he injured all the associated tendons and ligaments.
Besides, medical technology and surgery have come a long way since Bo's injury. Doctors say they expect a full recover.
So I'm optimistic. But I hope he slides to the Cowboys' pick. If we're interested in drafting the best players, then he would likely be the best player on the board if he were available with our first pick. Don't care if we have Dak. Tua is more accurate than Dak is now. Yes, I said it.

In case no one has cleared it up yet, it wasn't the hip injury that ended Bo's career, it was the disease he contracted due to the injury. Tua could have a very different prognosis.

Bo ended up with necrosis - part of the bone "died", hopefully they've learned something since then, and can avoid that.

I told my wife when it happened that it was the same type of fall Bo had - onto his knee, driving it into the ground. But it does seem to me Tua hit both his knees at the same time, while Bo fell on one knee, maybe Tua had the impact spread onto both legs which might lessen the effect.

We'll see, hope for the best for him...

His right knee struck first with the weight of himself and two Mississippi State defenders. The femur bone is pretty rigid and resilient, so it would make sense that the velocity and force of that would impact his right hip.

I'm hopeful that one, his injury was not as bad as Bo's and two, the science has improved. I really want to see the kid recover and play again, but I'm also worried that type of injury will set a precedent or trend for talented juniors that feel they are surefire top 5 picks (like Tua), will start sitting out.

He'll still go first round, just closer to the middle versus top 3.

It will just be which team willing to make the pick and let him sit.
