My thought was that maybe they were just trying to squib it down there to give Detroit bad field position. In that was the case, it worked. But, I may be giving them too much credit. A legit onside kick has the danger of one of the up men taking it to the house for the other team.

Clearly none of you guys understand how difficult an onside kick is these days

Exactly what it was. Designed play.

That kick was merely an attempt to place the ball in the hands of someone other than Agnew’s who was a threat to take the ball to the house due to our hideous special team’s kick coverage.

Is this a joke? Hahahahaha bc it's a really dumb statement

The truth is that was exactly what you should do in that situation. Woulda been nice to see a little more english on the ball but it was the perfect depth and speed for the situation just didn't have the right kinda bounce. Left them inside the 20 just like you would want to.

Good lord.

They used the 35 yard line spot to force a timeout and pin the Lions deeper than a touchback.

That was a freaking clinic on calling and executing exactly the right play in that situation.

Someone pin this thread.

A great example of the low football IQ of this board.

An excellent play. Smart decisions.
