Guys like Leveon and Gurley reset it because they did a lot more than just run the football....

RBs we’re doing more than just running a decade ago as well.

The league figured out you can go with a RBBC for the run and receiving. Now the league is making a mistake again with these RB contracts.

i wonder why the stat guys picked 75 yards from Zeke as the measuring stick / if you change that to 80 it starts flipping the other direction. 83 flips even more. take out the 8 whopping yards at Denver flips again. Who'd of thought that a team that has tried to make running the football their identity wouldn't look as good when they couldn't run the football.

Probably because Zeke carried this team while Dak was still using training wheels, same as Gurley did for Goff.

Zeke carried no one. He’s a product of the offensive line and so is Dak.

Same as Murray was who had a better season than Zeke has ever had

Thanks to Zeke.

And by paid, I mean get a massive 2nd contract after his rookie deal.

He's proven that all that truly matters in an effective running attack is that a top offensive line is needed.
Not sure what;s been said but before Zeke....RB's weren't; "getting paid" anyway. In fact...the criticism was unanimous...."nobody takes 1st round RB EVER" . But now you're telling me after zeke no one takes 1st round RB i.e. "getting paid".

The zeke hate make people lose their minds.

Being down 13.5% of rushing yards against much worse competition is...... not a good thing lol.

Especially when your down almost 50% of receiving yardage per game.

You're cool with your RB dropping 30 yards two seasons before his extension even hits? Weird.

He's down 12 yards/game. Much worse competition? Do you actually have something to back that up? What are his carries like compared to last year? How has are better success in the pass game effected his numbers? How about the injuries on the offensive line?

These things don't happen in a vacuum. His numbers are down a little, but some of that is just him not needing to carry the team anymore, which is great.

This "washed up" and "done" and all the other hyperbole is just that. It's knee-jerk emotional reaction from fans. Zeke is fine and has plenty of time to earn his money.

Lol. Not only will another RB get paid, but another one will come along better than the current best.

I think it’s way to premature to make such an assumption. Lots of contract time left for Zeke to rack up numbers and help his team win divisions, playoff games and hopefully a SB.

LOL

Wait till CMC, Cook, Kamara and Saquon all sit out or get deals this offseason.
And the common thread with these guys are that they are all lethal as pass catchers. I think a bruiser type may have a difficult time getting a massive second contract, but if you can offer something in the passing game, you'll still get paid.

You do not know football What teams game plan around a RB? What RB protects the QB like Zeke? What RB can play all 3 downs.....whether it's a run pass or blocking. AND NOT just blocking a blitzing safety, but Offensive lineman too. Check it yourself.....Look at "dak highlights" and pay attention to how many times Zeke has a block and who it is.

Look...I didn't want us to pay Zeke either and I was one of his biggest fans. But we have him now and losing your mind about it is not of any value. If we can objectively mange to remove Zeke from the team.....and objectively imagine the consequences...do you really honestly think Dak has his good numbers? I think not. But it takes more than looking at top tier simple stats....if you can.

It sure sounds like you're insenutating that NFL contracts are subject to inflation just like the rest of the world. You can't possibly be saying that. That would be far too logical for an emotional discussion!

I've never seen the offensive line throw a pass. I'd love to see a clip of that.

Yes, having enough time in the pocket to order a pizza and send a prayer up to Dak’s mommy didn’t have any impact on Dak’s production

But you’re right, the 3 all-pro lineman didn’t carry anyone - it was the one RB that carried the team...

Yeah, this really counters nothing...

When this offensive line isn’t playing at an all-pro level, Dak’s performance dips incredibly. How is Zeke doing since the line isn’t in its 2016 form? It’s all volume stats.

I said he carried Dak. The offensive line, when healthy has absolutely been a boon for the Cowboys. I don't think anyone in their right mind would argue otherwise. Zeke did, however, move the chains and keep the offense chugging. Was he a benefactor of the offensive line? Absolutely. Probabably almost as much as Dak was a benefactor of Zeke keeping defenses honest.

I didn't want Zeke #4 and I didn't want to set the market with his contract, but he got market value. It is what it is. The Cowboys are a much better team for having him. His contract isnt remotely prohibitive. The salary cap is fluid. As a fan of your posts around here, many salary cap based, I'm sure you'd atest to that as well.

RB’s will get paid
Right or wrong they will in the future
If not by their team then by another
You can make a good case for not paying them but they will get paid when they are elite backs
Just wait to a giants RB is up for a deal
The idea that he won’t get paid elite money and more than zeke is just a fantasy
Some team will pay him

I agree....the modern NFL will pay players. Even a very mediocre player COULD make several million in his career...which is how many more millions than an average hard working America? I say again...I did not want to pay Zeke his asking price...during a hold out...BEFORE his SIGNED contract was up. And if another famous site didn't screw it's pooch. I could give you proof. But some "fans" are being more of a beech about it than Zeke. Like QB's a decade or two ago that jacked up the price of QB's it is what it is.

Let;s figure out ways to win with what we have...as if THAT will help. LOL?

This thread is just another in a series of threads that say nothing new, provide no proof of anything. The OP's post could have just been combined into one of the other 10,000 Zeke sucks threads. They have all said nothing insightful. Saying he is breaking down, fat, slow isn't anything.

So I will continue to call a troll a troll.
Deal with it.

Take it easy buddy

Our record was similar in 2017 when Zeke was out than when he was in.

Look, I dislike Dak as much as anyone, but they are both a product of the true all-pro. Smith, Frederick, and Martin put Dak and Zeke on their backs.

And it doesn’t matter just about the salary cap, but the expectation a contract brings. Zeke is getting paid like he should be the best and he’s not playing like it...and really not even close.

He’s the one who held out wanting that kind of money.

Analytics data already told NFL front office folks all they needed to know. Backs age fast, burn out with heavy loads, and are typically poor investments beyond their rookie contracts. Good running backs are also easier to find than other positions.

But the Rams and then the Cowboys caved and gave out big contracts to Zeke and Gurley. The narrative of these two contracts should put the exclamation point next to the previously known data. DON'T PAY BIG MONEY to a running back.

David Johnson of the Cardinals can be added to the list as well. Ask anyone who drafted him in fantasy. LeVeon Bell isn't doing much either.
