I think we need a defensive minded HC. Moore is a good OC, but I don't think he's ready for the whole tamale.
the best defenses seem to be attacking defenses. not bend but don't break defenses like our own. I think Richard would be better if the fossil Marinelli were shown the door. but I like offensive minded coaches as hc's.

I feel like a defensive minded HC would be more prone to let Moore do his thing, without interference, while he concentrated on necessary defensive adjustments.

At this point, I think most Cowboy fans would be happy just to move on from Garrett. Anyone. It really doesn't matter who.
Same with all the defensive coaches.
A change of scenery is good for all. Even for Garrett, I think a new team would be good for him so he can prove himself.

jimmy did not interfere with norv turner or dave wannstedt. he hired them to be the coordinators and allowed them the freedom to do so. garrett interfered with his oc's and remains clueless as to defenses. that's why rod's still here.

Kitna has been praised for being able to communicate genuinely on a personal basis and find common ground outside of football with all corners of the locker room which is a hard quality to find.

I’d imagine finding something in common with Tank is different than something with Cooper Rush.

HC doesn't really need to have anything in common with the players, other than respect.

Harbaugh, McVay, Pederson and Reich had all been coaching in the NFL 7-10 years before becoming a head coach, and 3 of those had 3 years as an OC. When this season ends Kitna will have 1 year as a QB coach.

All that said, I wouldn't say it's impossible that Kitna could do well, but we don't really have any information to go by, and he doesn't have any coaching experience to give him credibility.
He was a high school head coach. Basically same track that Pederson had. HS coach to NFL QB coach. Then head coach?

football is not as difficult as some make it out to be. mcvay, shanahan, and Pederson all got their jobs because they are good with qb's. the most important position on the field is the qb. ergo, why not kitna. we have coordinators to do the rest. play to your strengths. create mismatches. that's pretty much what it comes down to.
But they had time as a coach to hone their coaching skills before becoming a head coach, and none were limited in their experience to only the QB coach role. And, remember that being a head coach isn't just being a teacher - it is also being a manager, and an administrator, and a disciplinarian, and a motivator, and a decision maker on offense, defense and special teams. Being good at coaching a position doesn't automatically mean a person is going to be good in that capacity.

Needing to know how different guys tick is extremely important. HC caters message for the whole team. It’s actually what Garrett is very good at. Now we just don’t know how demanding he’d be. That’s the one piece missing. It’s getting players to focus on every play to clean up little mistakes.

We don’t need new schemes on offense. Anything done schematically defensively will likely be an improvement given the current personnel on the team. They are in a terrible scheme now and are putting up solid numbers relative to the rest of the league.

No on KR as DC. He’s calling plays now. He can’t be absolved of all blame. His DBs get very few turnovers.
Did you see Cooper catch the ball after it went through the DB's hands Sunday, then get a little extra yardage? That's why I'm not as worried about interceptions as knocking the ball down.

And that's the thing. We have absolutely no idea what type of HC he could be. At this point, all he's done is help Dak improve his mechanics and reads. That's a far cry from managing all three phases of the game for 60 minutes, and all the hours of preparation during the week. He'll, has he even expressed interest in doing it?

He did it for a Texas HS and said he ran it NFL style. So at some level he’s interested in being a HC.

There is a long way obviously between HS and NFL but he has more experience managing a team than some

I doubt it. Actually, I'm sure of it. He wouldn't publicly express this while Garrett is still the coach. I think this was speculation by someone, and as often happens, the speculation was taken more seriously than it probably merited.

It wouldn't surprise me if he has those aspirations, but I doubt he expects to go from being a QB coach in the NFL for one season to being a head coach in the NFL.

As much as I don't want Garrett, if it's just going to be another Jerry puppet, we may as well stick with the puppet we already have. Otherwise, it's change just for the sake of change.

Unless Jerry steps down and hires a real football GM, the culture of this team will never change.

We're all his puppets at the end of the day as long as he keeps us just good enough to keep that money rolling in.

Lights, Camera and action!!
