What I don't understand is why sports teams give access to their players to the media for. A long time ago when there were only a few newspapers, radio stations and TV stations while sports wasn't that popular, it was necessary to build up interest in the sport.

At this point, having people shove a microphone in players' faces adds no value. Even worse, those reporters are just trying to get the players to say something that makes them look bad to get a few clicks. The owners and leagues are basically setting themselves up for embarrassment. Just stop it. The players know the game and just are trying to figure out which correct PC answer to give. The players and teams are in no win situations and the questions frequently make them look foolish at best. Let players do their talking on the field.
they want that nugget or slip of the tongue to have player lie zeke to call out his line or be like Keyshawn or TO and start crying for the ball..

we are so saturated with media in real time push type apps, they are trying to CREATE drama ie news..Zekes never been a big talker or emotional on th sidelines and I like that other then feed me he just minds his own business..

they've given him an opportunity to call out a team mate or two on the line or the coaching and instead hes said IDC as long as we are winning, thats all that matters.. its good he didnt take the bait..

Barnwell:

"Elliott isn't holding the Cowboys back by any means, but they have actually been slightly more efficient on offense with backup Tony Pollard on the field than him. Elliott has been on the field far more frequently, but the offense has generated 0.21 points of additional expected points per play with Pollard on the field and 0.17 points with Elliott in the lineup.

That doesn't sound like much, but over the course of a full game's worth of snaps, it factors out to about 2.6 points for the Cowboys. That stat doesn't tell the whole story, but the most expensive back in football should look more productive than a rookie fourth-rounder who will make $3.2 million over the next four years. "

The problem is, they're not always stacking the box when he gets stopped. It showed in the loss to the Vikings. They weren't stacked when Zeke couldn't even break 1 tackle in the backfield. Zeke is doing a great job picking up the blitz and blocking, but he's struggling with other things...things the team needs him to do for what he's being paid.

If the team wins and he plays, his job is done.

I can only shake my head and laugh when I read some of the comments on here. It’s like a bunch of 12 year olds with low I.Q.s. Elliott is one of the best backs in the league and there’s zero doubt about it. Teams formulate their game plans around stopping him. That has helped our passing game greatly and with the exception of the last two games, Elliott has been fine this season. He missed camp, so it was a foregone conclusion he would start off a bit slow. The run blocking has sucked the past two games and anyone that watched the games and has a football I.Q. above zero realizes it.

Oh...probably not, I’ve toned it down a lot but then he does or says something stupid once again. I’ll never be done, never liked the person but gave him several chances and he kept proving me right. Never liked fhe draft pick and will never like the contract. He demanded to be paid as the best RB in the league then I’m going to hold him to that standard and be that much more critical until the day he no longer wears a Cowboys u iform which couldn’t get here soon enough.
"Never liked the person" says a lot about you. Do you hold the other Cowboys critical to their play?

I’ve always said I haven’t liked him as a person but I’m mature enough to separate my feelings of him as a person vs a player and I don’t like either. I think Barkley is better than Zeke but I also think the Giants were dumb as hell for picking him and will be even dumber for signing him to a long term contract.

The problem is with people who can’t separate the player from the Star on the side of their helmet. If a player is a Cowboy and he’s good then he can do no wrong but if he sucks then throw him to the scrap heap. I keep it real. I guarantee if Zeke played for another team there would be several people here talking about what a piece of trash he is and how he got away with bullying the security guard after all of his other incidents.

Then I would ask again.....Is there any other player on the Cowboys that you would be critical of? Just curious.

Certainly but none them held this team hostage by sitting out with the two years left on their contract and demanded to be paid the highest at their position. None of them are entitled punk diva bullies that have had several off the field issues. None that play a position as expendable as RB.

Zeke brought the attention on himself so I’m more than happy to oblige. If he just went about his business and didn’t cause any problems on or off the field then I wouldn’t be near as critical but nope, he can’t do that, can he? Since he demanded to be paid as the best RB in the league then that’s the standard I will hold him to and he’s falling well short as expected.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the forum...….Let me be clear. Are we holding Zeke solely responsible for a 53 man roster? I ask .....Can you name any other player on the Cowboys that you would be critical of? Just curious.

I can criticize every player but none deserve to be criticized as much as the diva who has had multiple off the field incidents, sat out with 2 years left on his contract and demanded to be paid the highest at his position.

Can you name me ONE player on this team, other than Zeke, that fits ANY of those descriptions?

The offensive line, by today's standards, is a good one...but by yesterday's standard, not top shelf dominant.

Top team play is still the final line to cross to be a top team. Here, sometimes the Cowboys toe the line...and sometimes, they don't.

Coach Garrett returns his team, continually, to a mental reference of top standards...but on the field, his generalship misses mark, frequently.

A set of top three stat producers is still what the statistics show, but the effect of an entire team in unity is still the final protective line for NFL success. On the carpet, not the stat column shows the way.

This was one of Zeke's best off-field moments.

Not that there's been a ton of them, but this was certainly one.

What changes? I love line play.
specifically run blocking. pass blocking's been great. run blocking schemes have been figured out. the last two games were a clear indication of this.

Breath Aria breath.....it can't be that bad. You don't like Zeke as a player, as a person. Got it.

Correct but I honesty do keep my criticism of him as a player separate from my feelings towards him as a person (other than his contract “negotiations”).

I like Barkley but I think he was a wasted pick and the Giants would be morons to give him a lot of money as well (which I think they’ll do).

Colombo and the other coaches are going to need to change some stuff for sure.

Welcome to Dallas Zeke... where what you say gets over-analyzed and what you don’t say can get you judged

Crack a joke? Doesn’t take the game seriously.

Never say a joke? Has no personality and is a sullen player.

Basically— you can’t win Zeke. Even after posting 2 TDs and publicly supporting your QB lol
Welcome to the scrutiny earned after holding out and demanding to be the best paid.
