Lmao. DFW will forever be a football town with the Cowboys. Just check the ratings. It is a no brainer. Sure, there is a lot of talk about Luka around here and nationwide for good reason. But to say this a basketball town is laughable.

I recall a similar thread about the Texans overtaking the Cowboys in popularity in Texas.
Maybe in bandwagoners. Trust me, Texans will always be baby brother. Never undersestimate the power of a 42-year head start, and not to mention monstrous out of market following. Texans are never going to be a big name franchise. Generic name and logo, no history, plus the Cowboys benefit from playing in the same division as three big market East Coast teams. I'm originally from Houston (no longer live there, though), they're about as popular as the Cowboys, Saints, Patriots, and maybe Steelers. And have next to no fans (real fans, not JJ Watt/Deshaun Watson bandwagoners) outside a 50 mile radius. Their fans love to trash talk us, though.

They were absolutely America's team the year they won the title. Everybody outside of Miami was rooting for them.
That Finals was barely even watched by anyone outside of Dallas or Miami. Don't make me laugh. :muttley:

...Cause right now we're a basketball town.

It feels like everybody in Dallas has a wait and see attitude when it comes to the team because of Garrett. I don't sense too much excited about wins.

Doncic on the other hand is dominating water cooler talk.
Cowboys do not play in Dallas, and who is Lunatic Dumbic?

I live in Fort Worth and see Cowboys hats and shirts on people at probably more than 100 to 1 ratio. Laughable original post.
What does gear have to do with my OP?
Stop it dude. I live in DFW and this is a bold faced lie
In a week the Cowboys play the Patriots, Luka dominated sports talk in this city this week. He also dominated discussion amongst my group of fans. How are you going to tell me I'm lying about MY experiences.

Mavs TV ratings are infinitesimal compared to Cowboys games.

A preseason game would outdraw Game 7 of the Finals for Dallas.

But yeah, Luka is simply amazing.

Last night in the first quarter, he outscored Golden State, outrebounded them, and recorded more assists than them. He had 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in the first quarter.

In fact, he had a 35-point triple-double, and he only played 25 minutes.
Luka dominated discussion on The Ticket this week. Nobody is excited about this years Cowboys team. Whatever attention they get is built in from being America's Team for decades. But right now, the city of Dallas is more excited about Luka than THIS years Cowboys team.

how can you say YOUR experience is reflective of us being a basketball town? None of my friends have been taking about anything but this patriots game. All day I’m listening to 105.3 the fan and they are talking about majority of NFL. Luka didn’t dominate the sports talk so idk what you’re talking about

Dallas is football town, but there's a large section that can be Mavs fans. Mavericks have a 20 y.o. who's better than LeBron was at 20...chew on that for a second, and think of the mob of fans King James have...Luka will US and overseas.

I live in Jersey and there’s tons of Boys fans here; no Mav gear to be found though. I think the Cowboys are still more popular.

Currently... Who cares about the Cowboys honestly? I don't and i'm a fan. I'm just going through the motions every Sunday watching a stupid team be stupid.

My older brother said the same thing recently, I mean a quarter century of nonsense and a decade of Garrett is pretty ridiculous.

This is a guy that used to listen to games in 1986, 87, 88, 89....whenever it was that games would not be on TV. That was pretty devoted for a 10 year old and is probably the main reason I'm such a big fan.

I'm not sure a Cowboy can be universally loved in Dallas until a few years after they retire and even then...

Dirk is universally loved in Dallas and he was basically his entire career (even moreso after the championship). Doncic will probably be the same way.

I don't know the reason for any of this.
