Can some of you old timers give us some history of the board. Personally. I’ve been here since 07. Left from The Ranch because a member stalked me and actually found me then followed me around town one day LOL. He had a family member who was a local media member who was part of that place that hated me, go figure. Anyways, once I came over here I never went back there or any other Cowboys forum.

IMO CZ is not only the best Cowboys board, but the best Pro Team Fan board on the internet.

With that being said, can some of you old timers give this old timer some history of CZ. Maybe include a few HOF zoners, or worst of all time guys. Longest thread ever, Most discussed ever, most controversial ever that was allowed to stay a while?

What was the best time to be a member? How about worst? I don’t believe the internet was around the last time the Boys one anything worth talking about , so in this thread “moral victory’s and accomplishments” will be fine...

Finally, let’s pay tribute to some of our buddies who have passed on but had good times here..CBZ40 is where the list beings today.

Amen! I have been on CZ since 2003, barely ever post, but read every day. I appreciate what everyone brings to the table...

Those were tough times – the Carter/Hutchinson/Henson debates were all we had to look forward to. Some bright spots since then, but the main thing has been actually getting to listen in on the CZ discussions and jumping in every now and then. I haven't visited any website more. Kind of Cheers for Cowboys fans, I suppose.

Anyway, I haven't really done much to answer your question, just wanted to voice appreciation to all those who have made CZ a pretty cool place.

When I first signed on here in 2009, I remember checking profiles and 2004 seems to be the first year this board started. That was the “member since” date most of the old-timers had on their profiles. I was trying to get an idea when this board began.

Everybody’s join dates were reset in 2004. The board is much older than that, though. I’ve been told how much older, but I don’t remember.

I've been here since the beginning. There was another forum that was more free for all and it split into this and the other active one(I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link it or mention it) .

That other board is active with members that were part of the original forum. That origional forum started around 1998-99 when internet forums were just getting started.
Big debate back then was Moss vs Ellis.

When Parcells was hired, we had bunch of Jets/Parcells fans here posting. They weren't really Cowboys fans but more of Parcells fan.
Big debate then was Carter vs Hutchinson vs Henson vs Romo

I’ve been here since 2010(I got banned from “The ranch”) I was there from 2003-2009, but didn’t sign up and post here till 2012. The history in summary is, When we win we have the happy fans “ OMG we’re going to the Super Bowl” etc. when we lose all hell breaks loose. And it’s week to week. It’s entertaining, don’t take things personally, emotions get high. The draft is my favorite time of the year. Guys go nuts over guys that have never played a snap because we all want our pet cats.

I had a previous account from years ago and only used it a few times, but I forgot the login name and the email address, so when the official site went down, I created a new account. Granted, on the old account I lurked more than anything and maybe posted a few times.

One thing I have learned in forum perusal over the years: Don't worry about how long someone has been somewhere. It doesn't make what they say any more or less valid than what anyone else has to say. Embrace diversity and learn to happily accept new blood or things get stale and monotonous over time.

Also, don't worry or even remember about the worst people. Just miss and remember the good people that no longer show. Life is more positive that way.

I joined in 05...….…..this board is by far the best Cowboy's fan site on the Internet. Most of the regular posters, like myself, are pretty good guys. We may disagree back and forth but we keep it civil and family friendly.

The mods are pretty cool as well, if there is something posted that shouldn't be, like adult material, it is taken down pretty quick. Same for threads that go way off the rails and start getting into areas like race (things like "you dont like Dak because he is black), that gets cleaned up pretty quick also. I really do appreciate the job the mods do here keeping this a family friendly environment where that type of crap is kept out. Go visit some of the Eagle fan sites and they are total cease pools with literally nudes as avatars, F bombs everywhere, every other thread talking about sex acts, just total ridiculous stuff that has nothing at all to do with football.

As far as any notorious members that were here back in the day? Only guy I can think of went by the name HOSTILE and he absolutely loved Jason Garrett, I mean really loved him like he was a family member. He used to talk about how he like had visions of Jason Garrett becoming the head coach even back when Garrett was Aikman's back up, some of his post were kinda creepy like that. Overall, he was a good dude and he and me had tons of sig bets. Of course I won every sig bet between us because I knew Garrett was incompetent and had no business being head coach and Hostile just swore Garrett would win not only the division, but SuperBowls as well. The sig bets were all just for fun and games, but as Garrett struggled to even get to .500 those early years the criticism Garrett got Hostile took personally. Like I said, he viewed Garrett as a family member almost and the more people went at Garrett the more offended he got and then he would get into some heated exchanges with members then. Anyways, after awhile he couldn't take it any more and left the board and that's the last I heard of him. If Garrett does get fired, that poor guy is going to be on suicide watch, lol.

I'm an OG from The Ranch who used to hate the cowboys-forum site because I thought the place was too uptight. Yet now I think the moderators here are a pretty fair group haha.

The Ranch slowly deteriorated, and this forum became the more enjoyable place to post with more quality threads and posters.

My memory is super fuzzy, but Hostile, boozeman, and dale were the main posters I remember from the cowboys-forum days. There was one other really funny poster whose name escapes me as well.

Hostile still posts every now and then. And his leaving didn’t actually have anything at all to do with Garrett. He was a big fan, though, as you say.

If you really want to go back to the days before electricity, that board had a version in the 1990's that got shut down because a girl in Colorado made a death threat. The FBI shut it down and that board just disappeared one day.

I came over from the old Cowboys Forum, but I honestly don't remember why the old board closed. I just went on there one day and there were messages posted that this site was going up and to jump on over. That was a whole lotta years ago!
