Can't we just keep this simple? Hire Sean Payton. He's a top 5 coach. We should have hired him 10 years ago.

Let's just do this and be done with it. I do not see the point of having a college coach learn the pros or getting some has been ex-Belichick staffer.

Let's just hire Sean. Pay him whatever it takes and lets start over performing instead of under performing for once.
Same reason they can't just hire Belichick.

Sean Payton is under contract with another team (The Saints).

Why can't I spend the money in Jerry's bank account...

You have zero awareness when it comes to details.

This just happened two months ago:

Saints, Sean Payton agree to five-year extension

Given JG began this season as a lame duck, and everyone knew it, it seems Payton wasn't waiting for Jerry to call. It takes two to tango.

Hi Mrs. Benson,

We know that you recently signed Sean Payton to 5 year extension but we have decided to sign him out from under you.

Thank you

Why? Ya'll say Garrett is too conservative, I say Peyton is too aggressive and takes too many risks, but in ten years he does have 1 ring, uh okay.

Unfortunately he is not an option anymore. His old contract with the Saints had a clause in it that he could get out if ownership changed (it did). It fueled alot of speculation that he could join Dallas if Garrett (which I think would have happened).

He doesn't have that out in his contract anymore

What is the love affair with Payton and Cowboy fans about? Hes a great offensive mind and above avg HC who is still living off the super bowl 10 years ago

Since JG took over in 2011, Payton has only been slightly better. Hes avg 9.8 wins to JG 9 wins. Hes had 3 straight 7-9 seasons to JG 3 straight 8-8 seasons. Hes 4-4 in the play offs to JG 2-3.

I dont get it. If we hired a HC and he won a super bowl in the first 4 years, but followed that with 8 years of 9.8 wins a season, 4 playoff wins, with 3 straight 7-9 seasons, would you still want him to be the coach? Would you, or we as fans, want to keep him around for a super bowl 10 years prior? Do you think this forum would be full of Payton is great post? My guess is that this forum would have as many threads that he needed to fired as they do with JG needing to be fired.

Sean Payton signed that new contract knowing the Cowboy head coaching job could very well be open soon.
He has no interest in coaching for the Cowboys.
Right. He was never a option. To my knowledge he’s friends with Jerry so he knows better than to sign to him.

I was gonna say something similar.....Sean Payton has had some dreadful years after that Super Bowl and these past few years his teams are stacked and doesn’t have much success with those stacked teams.

Why can't I spend the money in Jerry's bank account...

in 2013 Belichick signed a 7 yr extension which would take him to 2019. I think it was reported in the offseason or late last yr that he signed another extension but then later was reported that he just got a raise for the 2019 season his 7th and last remaining yr.

Somehow his contract is nowhere to be found which is crazy as every contract is on the internet except for Belichicks.

But if you think about it, it makes sense to have just given him a raise, as Josh McDaniel had the Colts job already and gave it up to stay in NE. Brady signed a 2 yr extension for 2019, and 2020 with 2020 voidable.

I think Belichick is going to be available. Jerry would be a fool to not give him whatever he wanted to bring him in.

He just signed a new contract with NO. He's not interested in working for Jerry again. In fact, no quality HC wants to work for Jerry. Jerry likes to meddle so why do
you think Parcells left?

Every time Payton's been available JG goes on some winning streak to reach 8-8 (that only serves himself) and give JJ hope.

Do you know what the cost of that would be? Very very high

at least 2 first round picks
At least and I don't know if Sean Payton would go there anyway? Maybe if Brees retired? I know we shouldn't dwell in the past but we had Sean Payton here knowing that Bill Parcells was not a long-term option we could have made him assistant head coach paid him the money with a promise he take over imagine how different that would have been? He was a big Drew Brees fan Drew Brees might have ended up in Dallas who knows? Remember Brees did not have any options as people thought he was washed up after injury
