So you’ve been there since day 1 watching him coach, in the meetings, during the games, his 1 on 1 with players, his meetings with other coaches and know that he sucks?

Ive watched him in training camp several times.

a very good coach.

we are lucky to have him.

The defensive backfield is comprised of a bunch of chasers - even the overrated Byron Jones. None of these guys can track a ball in flight - they just TRY to spot the receivers ‘tell’ and then faceguard the incoming ball. Not one of them possess an ounce of technique... and much of that is on the coaching. I’d as soon have Little Richard in charge.

How do you hold someone accountable when you don’t know what he’s in charge of? Do you know?
It’s clear that he’s the secondary coach and he calls the plays. Doesn’t make sense how people keep hyping up this dude as a defensive back guru when he’s keeping guys like Jordan Lewis on the sidelines because of height lol.

He and Maranelli can both go, along with the clapper.

Because Richard bleeds his team colors & supports his players ... He doesnt throw his players under the bus , can't say that about The Garrett Brothers.

no.

relaying plays.

Marinelli is DC.

it’s his defense.
So the team and players are just telling every league source and insider he’s calling the plays even though he’s not?

The lengths people are going to defend him and ignoring facts and common sense is unbelievable.

What are you smoking? He has the exact same job he had in Seattle, except now he’s calling plays. Imagine thinking Richard is a secretary lmao.

Richard has already had a say in our own personal, which has kept Jordan Lewis on the sidelines. You really want to give Richard the keys to the team, just to find out if he’s good or not? Usually you have to prove yourself before becoming a coordinator, not the other way around.

Richard is a bum who got by with having multiple all-pros in his secondary. Guy is FAR from a defensive back guru. Look at chido and our safeties, terrible.
And the deepest most disruptive DLine in the NFL.

What's it going to be then, eh?

The Rams playoff loss did it for me as far as he is concerned.

i'm cut n paste my previous post on Kris Richard since its' so repediant writing same thing... on same title/subject... on a different Kris Richard thread,...

https://cowboyszone.com/threads/kri...-since-he-got-here.446700/page-2#post-9739083

None of the current DBs on the roster, were personal choices of Kris Richard, ..and were already here before his arrival, and the one move Richard immediately
was a significant one with moving Jones from a very average free safety to a 2018 pro bowler at CB.
Only big problem is Jones has no ball skills or ability to get INTs, some skills you cannot teach up, either you have it or you don't.

-and i don't think this organization has did everything in their power to bring on his type players - we had a chance to acquire one of Richard's fav players in Earl Thomas in free agency, without having need to trade high picks for him, he was the leader and ball hawk INT, turnover guy we really needed in this defense
- but Stephen decided to play hard ball and we lost him out to Ravens.

-Should Richard stay on, I assume we would search/get the players more suitable to what he prefers.
But something would have to be done about the expansion and full control of what he wants to do as the defensive play caller.
and that means having his own preferred coaches and assistants which Cowboys have denied him from having.
Who knows if Richard would prefer a coaching change in the DL unit or not.

-i'm not as fond on Jordan Lewis' overall game than others on this board. i still think hes' purely more of a slot CB and he's limited beyond that.

-but I am definitely not sold that Marnilli's run gap schemes, personnel preference and questionable sub packages-rotations

if any thing with Richard, I have more issues with his blitzing schemes, most don't get home i dont think of them as the most creatively designed,

I feel about Awuzie about how you feel about Lewis. Slot guy.

I love me some Earl, but he was quite simply way out of our price range.

we apparently were prepared to trade for him during draft time, and we knew we'd have to extend a new contract for him if we trade for him , but hen when hes a FA and no trade picks needed , we fail to get him ?

Aside from being a guy that yells and brings energy what does Richard bring? Carroll fired him and the current secondary gets very few picks and Chido has regressed.

He calls the defense so it can’t be ALL Rod’s fault. And I doubt if he’s calling the defense he hates everything about it. The defense rarely blitzes so where’s this aggressive nature?

Parcells called the defense with Zimmer when they went from 4-3 to 3-4 because Zimmer didn’t agree with the 3-4 but realized it was a good learning experience to learn the nuances of a different scheme so he stayed on to game plan.

Who are “these people” of which you speak?

We talked to him, and he wanted a huge contract. There's simply no way we could afford him.

Truly amazing how many NFL experts we have here. We are truly lucky to have such super bowl winners...to tell us how bad our players and coaches are. I am glad they have secured their super bowls .

Everyone in this thread who think Marinelli is the only problem with the defense and that Richard is handcuffed and just a victim.

Any leadership book tells you don’t let higher management make you a victim of circumstance

Blast the D? 13 points given up? That's not too bad considering how many TO's we just had.

Sometimes I come here and wonder if anything would make you guys happy? I'm sure this forum would moan up a storm if we clobbered the Bills 40-3.
