He is a fantastic game manager . He just inherited Mike Stoops and can't outscore the worst defenses in Oklahoma history.

Part of defenses is possessing the ball for long periods of time and he has always remained pass happy..

He’s got 1 impressive win on his record against Ohio State a few years back. He hasn’t beaten a good team besides them.

Just a bunch of big 12 garbage that doesn’t care about playing defense.

You have to play offense with your defense in mind at times and he hasn’t done that.

I think Urban Meyer is a better fit for pro football but I’d be fine without RILEY because I do think he is a genius play designer and it would at least be entertaining.

Baker Mayfield

Kyler Murray

Jalen Hurts

Made all three legitimate.

What could he do with Dak?

Plays the QB under center a lot.

Run first oriented

College and pro style offense.

Should I continue?

You forgot

hasn't won anything

and

can't put a defense on the field to save his life.

no please stop

the problem is not getting Dak more effective, the issue is changing team culture, instilling discipline and accountability, attention to detail, player respect, building the Cowboys back and convince Jerry all this needs to take precedence over the glitz and glamour

This is a Herculean task and Riley is too young and inexperienced

I’ll go with Urban Meyer if his health is not an issue

Bill Cowher could very well be the guy. Never really too high on him myself and he has been out of coaching for awhile now, but I could see him being the pick too create more buzz, which Jerry loves.

You won't.......I checked a couple of weeks ago. No idea where the poster gets $12.5M.....

I was the one that said 12.5...closest thing I can find....appears to have came from Pro Football Talk

"According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Belichick brings home more than $10 million annually. Pro Football Talk corroborated Mortensen’s sources, specifying that Belichick is thought to make $12.5 million per year."

not to me you shouldn't. Oklahoma plays no one and wins nothing. Having great talent and superior talent to their opponents is the main reason they win. The big 12 is a complete joke. Its just a bunch of teams scoring a million points every week. Its unwatchable including Riley's OU team. Some of the worst football I have ever seen.

this guy as head coach calling plays week in and week out with jerry and steve hovering over him is a recipe for a complete disaster.
Did you see what Riley's offense did to Georgia? Ohio State?

One thing to consider about college coaching v the NFL, the work load. I remember Spurrier openly talking about his golf taking a hit because of the additional time the NFL required and the longer season.

Once these HC's like Saban, Swinney, Smart and Riley get the set up, it runs itself. Unless a highly successful college HC just has the itch and has to scratch it, he will not be happy as NFL coach but there is that pecking order where the NFL coaches feel they are better than the college ones.

Using Johnson as an example isn't really applicable. He didn't have the cap to deal with and that Walker trade was the catalyst for the turnaround. Riley or Meyer would be going into virgin territory for them, the tail wagging the dog and injuries making victims out of coaches too. And is Riley really a quality HC or just an OC?

However, if Booger wants a HC that will love his players as much as he does, hire Tom Herman, he kisses his players.

For my money, and none of it is in this, I would not look for a name to sell, I would look at what coaches like Gary Patterson, Mike Gundy and Matt Ruhle have done. They do that with fewer 4 and 5 star recruits than the Riley's and Meyer's.

It isn't about the HC as much as it's about the coordinators and position coaches he can bring. Jimmy brought a couple of good ones in Turner and Wannstedt but then again, that was a different time. And we don't know how many or which of these coaches Booger will want to retain or how much control any HC he will hire will have over that.

Let's get a college coach who retired due to a brain condition. That's the ticket!

Man, will be an interesting off-season indeed. My instinct tells me it is Urban Meyer, but, would that be that much of a "bigger than Riley" type splash?

Also, not sure how down I am about trading draft picks for a coach (obviously speculating that would need to be done with somebody like Payton).

I’m not sure but this article goes to an extreme and uses Jerry’s Own words about doing “anything” to get a SB by saying he should throw obscene money at anyone big

https://sports.yahoo.com/jerry-jone...-bowl-now-its-time-to-prove-it-053254710.html

That’s a tremendous article. “Selling a glass of sand and calling it water” sums it up perfectly.

I’m so curious to know Belichick’s contract status with the Patriots but I can’t find anything. Just out of curiosity .
