Best bets to be Cowboys next HC?:

Payton:
Jerry has said in the past one of the biggest mistakes he’s ever made was letting Sean get away.
How many 1st Rounders would it take in a trade?

Belichick:
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him leave the Patriots after this season. Especially if they win the SB again and Brady leaves.
Would $20 Million per be enough? Would he even consider working for Jerry?

Meyer:
Has said openly that he’d have to listen if Jerry called.
I’d be fine with this. Great mind that can hopefully groom the next guy since Meyer never sticks around too long at any one place.

Riley:
May be the next big thing, but is he really what Jerry is looking for? If I’m taking a guy from the college ranks, I’m going with Meyer. Plus, he’s making so much now, Jerry would have to break the bank for a big unknown IMHO.

The Field:
Probably the safest bet, since no one really knows what’s rattling around in whatever is left of JJ’s senile mind.

Going to be an interesting offseason one way or another.
Don't sleep on Chris Petersen

PLEASE All I want is a strong defensive minded HC. A great defense can make up for a lot of offensive woes.

Bill Cowher could very well be the guy. Never really too high on him myself and he has been out of coaching for awhile now, but I could see him being the pick too create more buzz, which Jerry loves.

Any coach worth a damn has an ego as big as Jerry's, so why would he come here to work for some clown who will try and tell him what to do?

The only thing we'll get is some long-time coordinator who is happy to have a job. Think another Vic Fangio.

I am starting to think that is the best way to go, though I doubt Jerry will see it that way.

In my opinion, the 3 best coaches in the NFL are defensive guys, Bellicheck, Harbaugh, and Carroll.

Get a defensive guru, then bring in an innovative coordinator to run the offense. Get him an experienced offensive line coach as well.

That is why I want Urban Meyer

I would love to see Belechik come here. But, the Patriots have never confirmed his contract details so we have no idea if he would even be available. He makes the most sense. But, Jerry would have to take a big back seat. He's going to hire his own staff and would want full control over player personnel............something Jerry split with Jimmy Johnson over.

Yeah sure.

Jerry will offer a big name all the money they could ever ask for, then maybe even bend and let them hire MOST of their own assistants, then we get to where they dont want Jerry flapping his mouth on radio, or addressing the team in the locker room, and its discussion over.

Jerry can't do what he wants w a real coach here.

.....and if any of you think tight lipped Belichik is coming here and allowing Jerry to say things Bill goes out of his way to NOT say publicly, you're not paying attention.

He may be the LAST guy to ever work for Jerry

What name is bigger than Riley that’s attainable? Payton signed 5 year extension and Belichick isn’t coming. Saban is also on downside of his career as in he doesn’t have many years left.

[/QUOBelichick and Jerry we’re loving each other up before our game. Knowing both of them, I would be surprised if there already has been some communication in regards to him coming here

Dabo is already making a whopping $9 million a year. He has the top rated QB from my St John Bosco coming too. He wouldn't leave just yet.
Besides that, there's much speculation that if Saban steps down, Alabama will make a hard push for Dabo.
I don't know why Dabo would even want to move to the NFL, where the pressure is greater and the scrunity is more intense.
Dabo and Saban have comfortable jobs. They've built their programs, have control of the boosters and basically run their schools. They have the fame and the fortune, and, more importantly, the CONTROL. They're not going to have that moving to the Cowboys. Pulease.

Jerry is not gonna get rid of Kellen Moore, and any new coach is gonna want his own guys. The next HC, is currently on the defensive side of the staff.

That’s a tremendous article. “Selling a glass of sand and calling it water” sums it up perfectly.

I’m so curious to know Belichick’s contract status with the Patriots but I can’t find anything. Just out of curiosity .

I'm not sure it matters........coz I don't see Kraft holding him back IF he really wanna leave, especially with an OC waiting to take over. IMO this would simply come down what Belichick wants........

Last I read ( couple days ago ), NO ONE had any definitive information about Belichick's contract coz he and Kraft have been very guarded releasing info. Couple writers took an educated guess he was among the highest-paid around $10m about the same as Carrol. They're now using Brady's contract to guess the length.......

follow the chain, hannible and pft ... i take that as confirmed ... if you don't, so be it

Urban Meyer is a bigger name than Riley. He’s got National Championships at multiple programs. Riley is a QB savant but has not had the same success on the big stage

Why would a college coach who makes millions, is worshiped by the student body and alums/boosters and gets to pick the groceries every year want to give all that up to work for Jerry Jones? The guy that fired Tom, ran off Jimmy Johnson after 2 super bowl victories, fired chan gailey, ran off bill p, bungled the wade phillips era and holding on to king mediocre for going on 10 years. Never mind the fact that old jer still thinks hes a football guy and talent evaluator.

I'm not opposed to a fresh young mind. I would like to see the stale incompetent mind in old Jer resign his duties of player personnel and focus on marketing and selling t shirts. Hire a guy and give him the keys to football operations. No more jer making picks. No more jer meddling behind the scenes. No more Jer coddling players. No more country club.

Right the ship and stay out of the way.
I think the simple answer is ego. Head coaches at that level have a huge one and no matter how much success they have at the college level, the ultimate measure of success for a coach is to win it all at the NFL level. Add in the Cowboy job being the most high profile (right or wrong) and I can see a top college coach wanting this job. Plus, you can fail in the NFL and still get another cushy college job. See Nick Saban.

Based on history, Broaddus never knows anything ahead of time or does not know much relative to how much he has predicted.

His record of being correct about anything of this nature is well below 50%.

That means your best probability is to bet against what he says.

Does anybody remember the season when Marinelli's contract would be over after the season?

Broaddus said over and over and over that season that Marinelli would leave to go to Tampa Bay with Lovie Smith.

I wish! But I can't see Kraft letting the greatest coach in NFL history just walk out the door if he could do anything about it.
