Our secondary is likely going to be blown up next year.

Jones will likely be allowed to walk as will Anthony Brown.

Awuzie has been murdered all year.

Folks wanted more of J. Lewis and he was absolutely abused by Beasley.

To be fair. Beasley abuses every corner if left 1 on 1 in man coverage.

Everybody with a brain knows you have to bracket Beasley on 3rd downs. But our coaches didn’t bother because “we do what we do”

I still think Lewis is a good corner. The coaches just asked him to do something that only the best corners in the league could pull off. And then they’ll blame it on “execution”

I'm not worried about paying any of our players. They don't win anything anyways.

I still believe Lewis is a good player as well. The fact that we probably are going to lose Jones, Brown, and I think Heath if I'm not mistaken, leaves us enough spots to have to fill in the secondary. We need an upgrade at the safety position anyway so if Heath goes I'm ok with that but we are gonna have to find 2 corners through draft low/mid tier free agency. Woods may earn another year based off the fact that we have alot of needs back there but I hope he comes around and bounces back as well. He was another guy who most thought was ready to take a step up and has regressed recently. It will be interesting to see if we get a new staff in here who they get playing up to potential and who they feel needs to be replaced.

He is a guy who can jump high and long. That is not the definition of a football player.

Watch, he's going to move to a team like the Ravens, Patriots (he did play for the UCon) or Bears and collect 6 interceptions his first year with the team. ;)

Yep.
Brandon Carr v2.0. (better athlete)
Carr led the league for nearly half the year in picks in his first year with the
Ravens after leaving Dallas. I think he had one pick in three years at Dallas.

I agree...I don't think Jones is bad but because Awuzie is so much worse it does make him look alot better. Awuzie is one of the most frustrating players to watch on this team
The entire D is frustrating to watch. Even Lee has decided to forget how to tackle.

i never got the impression that Cowboys saw him as highest prioriety to re-sign. Why ?

he simply does not make plays on the ball .. he's just not a ball hawk, he will never give up INT and turnovers, and apparently he's not seen on that level of a Stephen Gilmore elite shut down
that could make them consider otherwise. (plus Gilmore also makes INTs)

I think they will throw Byron a B-tier type player offer but it won't be anything close to what some other NFL team will offer at top dollars.
Some team will definitely overpay for him.

Wouldn't even be surprised if the Eagles come after him ..(and Cooper) in FA market.

I must be in an alternate universe and watching different games than y'all. Byron Jones is not a good DB. He was not worth a 1st rd pick at all. Nothing special about him at all. Another guy on this defense who can't make plays.

QBs don't throw to the man he is covering very often.

And when they do, he never knows where the ball is and they dominate him. Do people think just because a QB did not go to a certain DB, he is good? Did you go play by play with the All 22 and see the context?

I guess this is where we are as a team. Sucking so bad we think someone like Byron Jones is good.

lmao. He's not elite but he's a solid player (no injury history, great locker-room guy, high IQ, great athlete)

He's the only secondary player in the cowboys franchise to make the all-pro team for the entire 2000s and the first to make the pro bowl since 2009.

lol at "not a good player". At very worst he's a fringe pro bowl caliber corner.

"not worth a 1st" is a huge exagerration. We picked late that round when most of the talent was gone (there was only 2 pro bowl players in the next 50 picks after Byron).

This wasn't a claiborne situation where we spent a top 8 pick on a dud and actually truely wasted a first round pick
