The best way to become successful is to mimic success. Get big and physical on defense and bring in a 6'4" pure pocket passer. Patriots.

They are not following the blueprint. And they wonder what's wrong.

The Dallas Cowboys are an ENTERTAINMENT organization.
Since when??? Did I wake up in a different universe, where showing up, dragging your *** around on a stripped field, wearing a pro football uniform but play like pop warner losing on que is the new norm? Not to entertaining in my book to watch these over paid turds floundering around pretending to play football...

Let's live in the real world Troy. Let's change the things we can, and that starts with coaching.

25 years and counting......beginning to think Jerry actually made a deal with the devil for that last championship.

I disagree with the premise that the 'Boys can't/won't make it to the Super Bowl as long as JJ owns the team. Believe me, there's no one who loathes JJ as much as I do. I detest him as an owner & GM, he's everything that's wrong with the 'Boys and the NFL. That said, I don't think it's chiseled in stone that he won't pick a competent HC. Jerry isn't really stupid, he's just stubborn. By now Jerry has to know it will take a top of the line HC to get this team to the promised land. Until Jerry makes his choice I'll hold out hope. If Jerry does hire a puppet, or extends Garrett, or makes some bone-headed decision like promoting Moore or Richard, I'll eat my words. Until then I won't be of the there's-no-hope crowd like I see on this thread.

that's how i feel. and despite really really really disliking him and his nincompoop son, they've shown signs of trying to right the ship recently. from grabbing amari, and acquiring quinn and bennett, trying for earl and jamal, firing linehan, locking up what looked to be important pieces of the core... they're trying, it just hasn't panned out this year (so far). I naively feel like there may be hope with them

How is the blame on Jerry? Maybe being too loyal to a fault but as far as talent across the board I don't think ANY coach at any level could as for anything more. Jerry has one thing in common with all of us here. Wanting the team that they cheer for to win and how is it his fault that the ones who actually play the game don't get it done when it really matters?

Most people know it's deeper than the head coach. But the people above the head coach are not going to get fired, so they settle for a new coach.

I'm past the point of thinking a coach is going to be able to overcome the dysfunction permeating from the top on down. I'll believe it if I see it.
Yup.
Jerry, the GM, is the core problem.
He may Fire Garrett, but he'll get another coach who is similar to Garrett.

Aikmans two cents are worth more than Garrett's entire portfolio.
Aikman is directing this at JJ. When players know Jerry likes them or drafted them , they know they won’t be fired , and won’t play hard for the coach .
Same goes for assistants . Every position seems to 2 have accountabilities,to JJ and to the coach .
This team is run like a family business that doesn’t fire its loved sons .
Nepotism kills organizations.

I'm a year older than Jerry! I'll hang on as long as humanly possible, just to see what happens without him around to muck things up!

i don’t get the vibe that Stephen wants to be a GM. He looks like the guy who just wants to own the team which would be a vast improvement from his father.
Maybe. He doesn't seem to have the ego that Jerry does. Hopefully when the time comes, he hires a quality gm and steps back.

Simple.
As an example, the Baltimore Ravens are a FOOTBALL organization.
The Dallas Cowboys are an ENTERTAINMENT organization.
There is the problem.

This is so spot on. I wanted to "love" it, alas I could only "like" it. 24 years of trying to figure it out, one constant amid it all...

But a head coach has to fight the battles he can win, and where Garrett has failed is in his "Let's try this" philosophy.
Garrett has failed to give the team direction and instill the drive needed to achieve greatness.
Because he doesn't understand it.
The Cowboys have had an assortment of great players;
Without the right direction, they were bound to fail.
I found Garrett's direction problem......
