CL, I almost always agree with your takes, but I'm confounded by your take here.

Let's keep it simple: What did Troy say this isn't true?
He's right that Jerry is a problem is many ways. He's right that a family business isn't ideal. We all know that.

Where I disagree with him is where he acts like changing the coach wouldn't make any difference because of Jerry. I heard his full interview live the other morning on the Ticket and to me it was a total defense of his good friend Jason. Sounded to me like he regretted going off on the poor coaching during the New England game and wanted to walk some of that back by blaming Jerry for everything.

I think a better coach would absolutely make a difference.

Troy hit it on the nose but he still seems to absolve JG, his old running buddy. But overall JG is a product of the dysfunction because Jerry wouldn’t make the move when he was ruining seasons

Just said the same! He’s absolving JG. You can have a bad organizational structure and a guy who can’t coach on top of it. They kind of run together

Even though I didn’t need to be reminded, but when he said “three playoff wins in 25 years” the gravity of how putrid this franchise has been in terms of on the field success really came into focus.
Kinda like us whiny fans got a little justification?

This was a disgusting thing to post. He had no control over what some players in that era did in their off time. I don't even blame Jerry for that crap. Your posts normally make sense but this was just way over the top. This crap post of yours is why we need a down vote button.

And this post of yours is why we need to get away from Buttons all together.

Troy's point is, of course, correct - but it's also a completely pointless one to argue.

Jerry is going to run the team the way he runs the team until he dies, and after he dies his goofball son is going to take over and probably run the team the exact same way. No amount of griping will change that. The only thing that can realistically change is the coach.
If anyone's publicly expressed opinion is going to matter to Jerry, it's Troy's. He knows Troy is a straight shooter, who has no reason to exaggerate, and no reason to place blame where it doesn't belong.

Three playoff wins in twenty five years.

Pathetic.
Did they not have the players to win more playoff games? Maybe reach the superbowl? This is Jerry fault? The owners job is to give a coach what he needs on the field. Its the coaches, and the players fault they didnt get it done.

2007, 2014, 2016

Is it Jerrys fault Troy, Irving, and Moose had to retire? IN back to back yrs too. Started the ending of that era. You dont lose 3 HOFers in back to back yrs and not take yrs to come back.

I agree with Aikman but he has zero right to criticize any way its run. He was part of the era where the Cowboys were a bunch of Coke and prostitute addicts. He didnt seem to have a problem with that.
 Yeah he was happy with switzer because he was lax on discipline...

I'm hoping Aikman is wrong, but he's probably not. But lets look at the possibility that he might be. Although he might not be too far from the truth, just somewhere in the middle. Look at our coaches since JJ. All trash except for Parcells, and he built that 2007 team that went south after he left. Then we got more of the same but slightly better with Garrett. So yeah, it could be primarily coaching.

LOL all we see in this forum is people talking about how clueless Aikman is when he would criticize Romo, Dez, the defense, Parcells ect. Now that he wants to criticize how this team is run you all on his jock? You guys are just as hypocritical as him.

I thought about what i typed and i meant every word of it. He was the leader of the team, he did nothing to stop the drugs and rest of that mess that brought the organization down. It wasnt Jerry, it started with Jimmy quitting on his team, and leaving that culture he allowed behind. The exact same culture he left at the University of Miami. Jimmy cared about winning, he didnt care how it was done. He didnt care about the players.

Now Jerry might not run the organization the way most would, but he genuinely loves every single person that he employs. This is why i defend Jerry so much. Because it doesnt matter if the team is losing or winning the guy backs his team 1000% and takes all the blame 1000% of the time. He's made some stupid decisions but dont act like he hasnt built winners, the players just didnt get it done. 2007, 2009(maybe) 2014, 2016.

How was it Troy's responsibility to police what his teammates did in their free time? You can blame Jimmy if you want to, but Troy was a teammate too, and had no authority over anyone.

I wasn’t making a comment one way or another on who was responsible.

I was just expressing my disgust at being reminded how pathetic the organization has been for a quarter of a century. A generation of Cowboys fans who are now young adults have yet to see their team win a SB.

Dunno if it is pointless to argue it. We have a right to gripe, even if there is not much we can do. I mean you might as well just say it is pointless to care...
