Why will Philly likely hold the tiebreaker if they beat Dallas? I assume if they split the games, and end up with the same record, the tiebreaker will be division record, and things sit today the Cowboys are 4-0 in the division, and the Eagles are 1-1. If the Eagles beat the Cowboys that just moves the needle to 4-1 for the Cowboys, and 2-1 for the Eagles. On the flip side, if Dallas loses to Philly, the Eagles will likely hold the tiebreaker.
It probably comes down to that game because neither team looks poised to finish strong.
The Cowboys could easily lose the next two games.
The Cowboys essentially have a two game lead on the Eagles by virtue of the tie breaker. If the Cowboys beat the Eagles, gaining one game and maintaining the tie breaker it would be an almost insurmountable lead for the Eagles to overcome.
No they don't. Only the Cowboys can lose back-to-back and remain in first place in the NFCE.

I'm not assuming they will, but they do have 4 more division games in which they have the opportunity to lose. Are you assuming Philly loses one of the games to the Giants or Skins?
We'd still have to beat the Commanders, but this scenario is very possible. If we win tonight and philly loses monday that might be all we need
Philly can beat the Cowboys and just lose one other game. If that happens, and Dallas wins one of the next two, then beats the Commanders, that makes the Cowboys NFC East champs with the better division record -- 5-1 to the Eagles' 4-2.I'm not assuming they will, but they do have 4 more division games in which they have the opportunity to lose.
Bottom line is, as things sit today, the Cowboys have 3 more division wins and one less division loss than the Eagles. That means at worst, the Cowboys would end up with 2 division losses, which in turn means the Eagles cannot come out on top of a tiebreaker if they lose to the Cowboys. The Cowboys, however, can still be on top of the tie breaker even if they lose to the Eagles, because as things sit today the Eagles could beat the Cowboys but still end up with 4 division losses.
That's not to say I expect the Eagles to beat the Cowboys but lose the rest of their games, but they do have more opportunities to stub their toe in the division than the Cowboys do.
Yes. I was only referring to tie breaker scenarios in response to another poster who said if the Eagles beat the Cowboys the Eagles will likely have the tiebreaker, but that doesn't mean it will even come down to a tie breaker.Philly can beat the Cowboys and just lose one other game. The Eagles control their own destiny too.
Not true. If the Eagles win out, they will be 9-7. But if the Cowboys beat the Bears tonight, and then go on to win every game except the Eagles game, they will also be 9-7 and own the tiebreaker with Philadelphia due to record against common opponents. That is why the Dolphins loss was so big for them.
As for the OP, beating Philly is not good enough. They’ll have to beat Philly and Washington. In fact, the next two games almost don’t matter (except for momentum) as long as they win the final two.
