Our offensive line is garbage

Why are we paying a third of our roster for the offensive line when it's blocking has been terrible pretty much all year? Have they all just given up at this point?

They're all living off of past reputation and accolades. And I think they're so pampered and have it so easy under Garrett that they've grown soft. I'm willing to bet that they don't even practice drive blocking during the week anymore. Too many 'vet days' for everybody after all. That's why they can't get a damn yard when they need to, despite the monumental investment made in this team's running game.

The line has honestly been fine. Dak holding the ball too long, having no pocket awareness, and the refusal of coaches to call/design faster developing plays is the biggest issue. The entire line didn't suddenly forget how to play at the same time, it's just been a perfect storm of BS. I have no problem with the investment in the line, they just need coaches who can get the best out of it and Dak really has to be better in the pocket. He's gotta have that internal clock. 1-2-3 take off and/or throw it away. At this point it's really his only glaring weakness, but it's there.

No, it's yet another issue you can place firmly at the feet of Jason Garrett.

He had the perfect opportunity to hire Mike Solari to coach this offensive line.

And he passed.

Instead, he chose Paul Alexander to come in and totally screw it up, based on Garrett's brother's recommendation. And then had to fire the guy halfway through the season and promote Colombo and bring back Houck out of mothballs to hold his hand.

Meanwhile, So,ari has taken a bunch of misfit toys in Seattle and crafted a quality offensive line and running game.

It's yet another indictment of Garrett's judgement and something else he should hang for.

Absolutely no argument from me here.

Garrett has spent his tenure surrounding himself with people who weren't a threat to take his job or power.

They're decent but a far cry from years past and I don't care what anyone says Frederick is nowhere near 100% because I don't see him getting any push at all!

This line has never recovered from the short time Alexander coached them. It’s like they forgot everything that they knew prior to his arrival.

The OL was not as bad as the entire defense last night, but there were some obvious problems in pass protection. Collins struggled for sure. But the bigger problem was Dak's accuracy throwing the ball. Until garbage time too many throws were off target. He was rushing his throws and not setting is feet even when he had time to throw. Pocket presences was awful again, even when he rolled out. A couple of times he rolled into pressure instead of pulling up and setting for his throw.

What irks me about Dallas is their short game passing. The Brears roll a TE out of the backfield on an important 3rd and 9 and no one is anywhere near him. He runs 10 yards before he is touched! When Dallas does that the RB or TE barely has room to catch the football.

It's the coach, the OL coach who was promoted to his job only because he is a member of Jerry's club house and happen to spend few years in NFL playing on the OL

Coaching knowledge/skill is not required in Jerry's club house

That and they've all gotten comfortable. All have gotten secure and well paid, and their drive (especially drive blocking) has waned. They've 'gone Hollywood' for lack of a better term. They strut out intoned the practice field in a group like they're some Mt Rushmore of linemen, and then proceed to be easily and regularly handled by one defense after another. Amazing how everyone can suddenly 'give them problems'?

They, and this entire team has assumed the persona of their head coach - soft.

No more high picks on the OL. Get guys in there willing to fight (figuratively and literally).

Fine? Frederick isn't fine. Martin doubt he makes the pro bowl. Tyron is a penalty machine. LG play as we know has been average at best. Collins was the only one living up to his contract. Dak has no pocket awarness ? His recievers run zero comeback routes, rarely any slants across the middle. Kellen Moore's offense is a carbon copy of Linehans.

Its hard to blame the OL when you have a 1000 yard rusher, 1000 yard receiver, and a 4000 yard passer.

I think you need to look somewhere above the players to blame.

The run game has had no real running room most of the time. A lot of the yards we get are empty after the game is basically over. When the game really matters our line gets dominated repeatedly. Zeke has to fight to get about 3 or 4 yards most downs. And the pass yards are because they need to pass it most of the time because they aren't running it well early in games. And the defense has been awful. The OL is way overpaid at this point.
