...it’s hard to imagine the Cowboys not making Meyer their top priority. He is one of the greatest coaches in college football history and has had success at every single stop, from Bowling Green and Utah to Florida and Ohio State.

The big issue with Meyer is his health. Not having to recruit year-round might be better on his health and allow him to focus more on coaching, which could make the NFL ideal for him. And keep this in mind: Meyer has already said he would “absolutely” take the job.

All he does is win.

Took an awful Bowling Green team to one of the best turnarounds in NCAA history.

Went to Utah and took a solid team to two conference championships and an undefeated team who very well could have been the best team in college football if not for BCS shenanigans.

Goes to Florida, wins two championships.

Goes to OSU, wins a championship.

Maybe he craps out in the pros. Maybe his style doesn't work.

But his track record suggests it will.

Meyer never stays anywhere though. After a few years there is always some drama that comes up. Health reasons were cited for why he stepped down both at Florida and Ohio State, and he has had a lot of off the field problems with players and assistant coaches. Are the health issues that caused him to step down from 2 prime NCAA jobs now gone? Is he suddenly going to be tougher on off the field issues once he is in the NFL coaching multi-millionaires?

Besides, college success does not guarantee NFL success. That's been proven many times.

Earth to everyone--Urban left OSU because the stress of the games gave him migraines. I doubt if the NFL is any easier. Besides, we need someone with NFL experience. Oh, & Jerry in a nursing home with duct tape on his mouth.

I stated that in the game thread again and again. Stop the crap that the HC should not be fired during the season. This is total BS. Every well run sports club in the world does it anytime for the good of the team. This team is not going anywhere with Garrett anyway, so why not going for the +%0.1 chance that another HC might bring.

Also you don't have to continue with an interim coach, bring Urban Meyer now and let him see and evaluate the players and start the rebuilding NOW!
Makes sense

I think it's best to ride out this season and fire Garrett. There is no point in Meyer taking over with 3 games left. Instead hire him as soon as the last game is complete. There is nothing Meyer can do with this season and it wouldn't be fair to demand it of him. It's better for him to be brought in at the end of the season, have him clean house and start over.

what is he going to do now.... nothing he can do. should Jerry let Garrett go and put Richard as interim HC? perhaps. maybe Richard has said no. Moore is obviously not ready. and this season, is lost lost lost. its not just the head coach. its the entire head coaching staff, the OWNER/GM who has created this environment, this culture. this situation.

I’m a big Meyer fan but you need to clean house when he comes in. He may not want to come in right now honestly.

I agree. I would think whoever steps in would want to with a fresh start so they can start new doing things the way they want rather than step into the middle of a situation they can't do anything about.
