Do we really want Urban Meyer? This guy has quit on every damn team he's ever coached for, before you lambast me - do a little research and think about it.

The difference is, with Urban the assistant coaches can beat their wives at will, and he'll cover for them.

Right, because the same could be said of folks like Tom Bradley, Pat Flaherty, Paul Alexander..that's a bit of a stretch

Also, it's not beneath the NFL to look over past transgressions either, there's a litany of questionable players who were still allowed to play,o are still playing, with bad marks on their records.

Does it make it okay? No, absolutely not. Let's not pretend like Urban would be the first brought into the NFL with skeletons in their closets.

So, we'll have a coach who covered up domestic violence coaching a running back who was suspended for domestic violence.

We'll be the "Battery Boys." Maybe we can make t-shirts like the Hot Boyz

Gross. That whole shenanigan has gone too far as is.

Again, not that I condone the whole thing, but the NFL is far from clean when it comes to questionable personal history.

It won't matter. Jerruh will spend all the cap on guys like Jaylon and Witten and force the new coach to play them and the product will be the exact same as it has for he last 25 years. The one notable exception was Romo era cause he was transcendental.

We have enough Ohio State players on the team. Don't want a coach from there. Lincoln Riley is a Texas product so best to go with the hometown man.
What's the matter with getting a coach who are familiar with the players?

At some point, I'll be willing to bet some will eventually bring up Mike McCarthy too.

Urban Meyer all the way.
I’m an Ohio State fan. I don’t see what any pro football fan sees in Urban coaching their team. His greatest strength is recruiting. Why do you want him?

Ryan Day would be a better coach in the pros.

he coached for 7 years at OSU, was he supposed to stay for 20? Give me 7 years in Dallas, and we will be in the mix every year.
That's an extremely short tenure for a coach of his age and of a perennial powerhouse such as Ohio state.

I was curious for those that know what the difference is between Urban Meyer and Lincoln Riley which would be better for the Cowboys and why ? I feel we need a great motivating Coach to get on the players azz and hold them accountable. When I have watched games can either one of these guys actually do that ?

Meyer has the lengthy track record. Riley has some recent success. Meyer has the National Championship wins. Riley has been close but no cigar. Meyer has complete teams, offense and defense. Riley does quarterbacks and offense well.

I dont know if Meyer will be successful as a pro coach, but he is from the Jimmy Johnson mold and will not take any crap from Jerry or the players. He actually has a bit of a sadistic side to him. Riley seems like a nice young coach, but one Jerry will sense is weak and try to continue his manipulative control. Jerry won't get a weak coach in Meyer, and that is one reason why I do think Jerry will hire him.

Let's say he wins a Super Bowl in the next few years, then quits a year or 2 later. Are you good with that?

I for one am, fine with it. Not every coaching hire needs to be a long term thing.

They said the same thing about Parcells. Who cares if he wins while he's here?

Jerry bent the knee for Parcells for one reason.

He was trying to get funding for a stadium, and the team was coming off three straight 5-11 seasons.

He needed momentum. Peppi Zellner, Ken-Yon Rambo, and Dave Campo weren't delivering it.

I'd be fine with it but college football and the NFL are basically two completely different sports - they might as well be played on different planets.
