Neither would leave their current great jobs to come to this clown show.

For now I think you’re spot on. 10 years down the line I think we’ll see Tony in a prominent coaching role.
I don't know. 10 years down the line Tony will be even further removed from the grindstone of the game, not to mention the intensity and strategy and all that. He would have to retrain his mind to a competitive mode, and be willing to give up having the time to do whatever he wants.

Realistically, how many players as successful as Romo was (both financially and statistically) go into coaching? It's rare. Plus, you can't make head coach a person's very first coaching gig, and it's doubtful Romo would want to work his way up through the ranks.

Troy and Tony would take this team to the promised land. Both have the knowledge, intelligence and passion to perform well. I know it’s a dream but that’s all we have these days.
No. Just because you can play football at a high level or break down X's and O's does not actually translate into leading people. Also, both guys have nice easy jobs. They aren't giving that up for not much more money and more time spent.

Troy would absolutely leave his broadcast gig to work as a GM. He's said as much in the past in previous interviews. He has said he would like work in an NFL Front Office and that he doesn't see himself doing TV forever as his last profession. Especially now that his daughters are almost both college age. I would welcome him with open arms as a GM/Head of Personnel. It won't ever happen. The Jones's boys egos are way too big and don't want to cede credit to anyone. They HAVE to be right. See Smith, Jaylon..

Tony on the other hand will never be a HC. He's too good and too revered as a broadcaster. Plus, he feeds his competitive gene via golf and trying to qualify/win there. I don't see how he would ever want to put in the insane hours and put himself (all over again) through the intense scrutiny that would come with being a HC.

Honestly, I'd prefer Kitna over Romo. Romo is savy and likeable but doesn't seem like a guy that could run a team, maybe an OC but not HC.

I can't picture Troy as a head coach but I can as a GM.

I totally can see him with a ball cap on and the headphones... he has always been a straight talking leader that demanded the best of the people around him.

He is a HOF player, a great communicator, and he is beloved in Dallas and by the Jones family.

Who better than the Golden Boy to come in and help right the ship and return this franchise to glory?

I always thought Troy would be the reason Jerry would give up his GM title. Troy seems to be paying more mind to the current Cowboys problems from what I noticed but I could be just overly analyzing that being a Cowboys fan.

I think the commentary gigs are good for players straight out of retirement and can groom a few to handle team management in a way.

There's no indication at all that Troy would be a successful NFL GM. He's got about as stout a resume in that department as Matt Millen did when he took over the Lions. That's not to say he couldn't do it, but it's a risky proposition that is honestly a pipe dream as we know Jerry's not going to bring in anyone for the job.

As to Tony, if he were to abandon the spotlight for coaching, I think his ceiling would be OC. He had serious problems with leadership while he was a QB, so I don't see where he'd somehow do better in that department as a coach. There have been instances of former Cowboys that didn't respect Romo all that much, and little indication he did a lot to earn any respect beyond his general play.

Honestly, lets face it on Romo, he likes the spotlight and he enjoys being performative and being the center of attention. You can tell it in his demeanor and overall charisma. I think he's found his true calling in broadcasting and individual sport like Golf. I can't see him giving that up to be in the often thankless firing line as an NFL coach.

Tony fans won’t like this so please stop reading

Tony does not have the personality or the drive to be a good NFL HC

Tony has always been happy to be mediocre which is why he got along great with Garrett and Jerry

The way Tony calls the games it's brilliant. His knowledge of the game of football is amazing. He'd be a great HC.
