I really thought Jerry would fire Jason Friday

And I think he knows he should have. He has to know that the end is here and the longer he puts it off, the worse it will get.
I think it's likely that the Cowboys will not win another game this year if Garrett is not removed. His situation has become a distraction and the Cowboys lose focus too quickly in games. It's burnout.
The Eagles are in bad shape, but they will likely rally.
The Commanders are playing better under Callahan.
And the Rams are next.
It’s going to be hilarious if the Commanders win the division.

I’ll say this.

If you’re trying to land a coach I think it’s good that a coach can see that Jerry will let them finish the season at least before he would fire them.
Actually it is the opposite. If I am looking for a head coaching job, I appreciate what Tepper did with Rivera more than what Jones is doing with Garrett.

Honestly, he needs to do it now.

If it starts getting in the press that we're interviewing head coach prospects already, this team will tank harder than ever. And then we don't have the slightest chance of the playoffs.

Firing JG now allows them to conduct their search in the open, and maybe it will light a fire under these turds.

And honestly, can it get worse? We've been blown out in two consecutive games in primetime with the season on the line.

Ask yourself this, if Jane Slater's source knows that Stephen has talked to Urban Meyer, do you think that those inside the building aren't aware of it already?

Everyone makes it sound like they’re in first place because of Garrett, when in fact they’re losing out because of him.
Everyone? I think no one is closer to the truth.

This whole mess of a year is Garrett's fault and yes, the Cowboys are losing because of him.

Exactly. You're clearly talking to his replacement candidates behind his back. Have the decency to just fire the guy and end the charade rather than humiliating him and continuing on with this farce.

But apparently, the Joneses see nothing wrong in doing business this way. They did the same thing to Campo when they talked with Parcells before hiring him.

That may or not be true.

But it would have to be someone already with the team. Like Aikman said, no one has earned that interim HC position.

Bringing in someone from outside the organization to coach the last 3 games doesn't sound like a recipe for success.

There will be no success and Garrett hasn’t earned anything. There will certainly be no success while he’s here. Richard has a ring, Marinelli has a ring? This logic is just ridiculous at this point with the team looking as bad as it does. But no real surprise the GMs trying to sell it. The finest snake oil available.

Garrett didn't earn the right to be head coach, but he was put there.
And the team and the fans paid the price.

you see it in every thread. ‘They’re Still in the hunt’ as the reason to keep him. The biggest lie of 2019. I’m generalizing when I see everyone but some actually believe this.

It also affords the coach to start talking to prospective teams right away, without the burden of getting a team prepared to play each week. It is like releasing a player early that you know you have no intention of keeping.

As for the Campo point, this is different. They are daring Jason Garrett to win and get the team in the playoffs for their own vanity. Say he gets there and loses, the result is the same. The only issue here is that they think they are showing loyalty and faith with him. If I were in his position, I doubt I would say thanks for the extra four week grind. Let me take a month off and refresh before looking for a new job.

The simple fact is that Jerry believes firing the coach is admitting you have given up on the season. And why would you quit on the season when you lead the division with a team that has some talent. Not having a good assistant coach on staff plays against firing the Carrot now also. The irony is that Jerry keeps saying he’s a riverboat gambler but he’s riding this burning plane all the way in to the ground. He refuses to see that the players have given up on Garret and his simple outdated schemes. They know that when they step on the field they are already losing unless they can overcome those schemes and Garret’s game management by everyone playing their perfect game every second. He doesn’t understand that just removing Garret would give the players hope and be addition by subtraction.

Cowboys are still in playoffs so until that ain’t true Jerry is keeping JG hoping for a miracle in the playoffs a run to NFC championship game or SB giving him an excuse to keep JG. These people work together and get close. You could see the emotion in Tepper about letting Ron go and they only worked together a short time Jerry has known Jason for a long time.

I've just accepted that Garrett isn't going to be fired. I just pray that I never see news that he's be re-signed.

That's the only difference from the Campo situation. They're still talking to candidates while Garrett is still on the job, effectively cutting his legs out from under him, as if that wasn't already made clear.

There's plenty of talk that they looked into replacements last year but couldn't find any that they liked markedly more than keeping Garrett. That's bad enough circumstances to return to. Then, the decide not to extend him and let him work as a lame duck coach all season. Followed by communicating with a guy like Meyer about taking the job before Garrett has even left the building. I'm no Garrett fan, clearly, but that's not great treatment of a head coach, no matter how you slice it.

And it's easy to see why the wheels are falling off this thing.
