In the old tale, It was clear how much pride Geppetto took in his creation. However, when Pinocchio's strings begin to fray (as they have since day one), a wise man would move on to jettison the puppet show and invest in something more tangible. Does Geppetto truly want to pleases his audience or is he just content with running a half functioning fake puppet out there every show?

Stay tuned.

This post is highly under-appreciated.

It's all personal.

He's giving Jason every chance to save his job so he doesn't have to be the heavy. He'd rather set the rest of the season on fire than take responsibility for firing Garrett while "there's a chance".

Exactly. He won't fire JG until the Cowboys are totally out of the playoff picture.

Because Jerry believes nobody is as good at his uh, personal hole of glory than Garrett.

Because he has legions of sycophants who keep stuffing his pockets with cash no matter what he does.

The “more tangible” options aren’t available this far into the season. Most have their own coaching situations to take care of. Besides, there isn’t much a coach can do to change things going into game 13. He would just be inserted into an inherited mess. Why not let him start fresh so that from Day 1 he can do things his way.

Fired clown
Interim
New HC in the off-season

It's very doable.

Uncle Jed doesn't have to fire him, simply because his contract runs out at the end of the season

It's not about vengeance. It's about cleansing.
. How is an interim coach that has been part of this year’s mess “cleansing”?

You can’t “cleanse” at this point this year. The schemes and processes and coaching staff are set - a new coach can’t start new with any of that 13 games into the season, and especially a lame duck interim one can’t.

Lame duck interim > fake HC clapper
Why? Which of the current coaches is kicking ***, which is ready to be a head coach, and what kind of change could they actually make going into the 14th game of a 16 game season? Besides, that could actually lead to the potential for Jerry to promote from within after the season rather than the cleansing you talk about.
