JJ and JG line in the 90’s and that’s where the playbook is from. The players have to execute flawless to win. Most teams run a lot of the same plays we do but they are disguised some.

Read this quote from Mike Florio. Everyone agrees with us on JG. The question is why it was acceptable in the first place. Hopefully Jerry is desperate enough to change

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/12/07/wholl-be-the-next-cowboys-coach/

The flaws with Garrett’s systems and style are now well documented. There’s no flexibility, no opponent-specific game-planning, no in-game adjustments, no active involvement in the coaching of players during games. Just standing, watching, and clapping.

So the question is whether Jerry will now bring in a coach who will want ownership to stand, watch, and clap? It all comes down to whether Jerry, 78, is sufficiently desperate to win and to win now to pursue a coach who will make it clear that three media availabilities per week from Jerry are three too many, and that there is indeed a new sheriff in town.

If I owned a team, maybe I'd be the GM. Probably not, but maybe.

Maybe I'd join the team on the sideline in the 4th. Probably not, but maybe.

Maybe I'd talk to the media three times per week. Probably not, but maybe.

One thing is for certain: None of my employees would be telling me what I could or couldn't do. Anyone that doesn't understand that has never owned and built a company.

Jerry’s got to know that he could have a real coach in place and still conduct all his media stuff. Just get a coach in here that can actually do the job while Jerry does his thing as usual. The two things do have to be mutually exclusive. I honestly don’t think Jerry’s after game press conferences and radio spots are in the way at all. It’s all love when you’re winning...

There are folks on this site that think coaching isnt an issue here. Let that sink in

Where did you see coaching?
What we have here is a frontman (Jason) and the real coach Jerry calling the shots from his office tanked up with JWB.
You know like the Mafia the guy behind the guy.......

Like I've said before I'm not even going to talk about the new coach because you're still stuck with the same front office and you're exactly right I just don't see it happening though I tried to be a realist LOL

Tell me about it. Lol

So because players say there is an execution problem, you say its not the coaches? The players are supposed to say what? The coaches game plan sucks and we are never in favorable match ups? GTFOH lol

Your defense of coaches because you have coached in some high school is comical to say the least. You have no arguments besides the players are the ones playing and when I said to you why are coaches getting fired in the league every year if it's all on the players, you had no real answer.

You are a clown who only talks about things that fit his agenda. A player says we didnt execute and you take that and run with it? What about when people around the league, former players or coaches, come out and talk about our coaching staff? You know more then them as well?

Your head is so far up your *** its unbelievable. You are entitled to an opinion about the staff and players just like everyone else but you've decided that regardless of what it said by anyone; players, coaches, and anyone else who has been involved at the professional level, that you somehow know more.

My opinions are always stated as such. I dont run around and claim facts based on what I like or dislike. You like this staff? Fine. You want better players? That's fine too. But running around blaming everyone else because you insist the coaches have nothing to do with what's going on is a joke and anyone with half a brain sees you for such.

You pull this same garbage from one place to the next. When a handful of coaches are fired this year, like every other year, I guess that means they did no wrong and it's all the players fault as well? It happens EVERY year and we see some teams improve instantly, some take longer, some regress. It comes with the job but sitting tight and never changing a coach out because they arent the ones on the field is as dumb as your statement that you have to be "dumb as a box" to blame anyone but the players for the way things are going.

No one is looking to replace your mighty mights little giants football coach position with anyone so stop taking it personal that people are calling for Garrett's head. You want him here or like him as a coach? Cool. But stop blaming everyone else for his short comings. Hes had plenty of time and obviously people with alot more football knowledge then you and myself think its time to go in a different direction. I have no issue acknowledging there are a million people more qualified to make that decision then me but somehow you feel you know better then them and every other person on this forum.

Your know more in the know about what it's going to take to get this team going in the right direction and you can scream at the top of your lungs to anyone dumb enough to listen to you, but thankfully most people here are smart enough to know this team has MULTIPLE problems (players AND coaching).

Keep crying for these coaches and pointing at the players while fans here realize every team would like to have more talent but also realizes good coaching has been missing for a long time. I'm a fan of this team and that means what's best for them is what I want to see and hear.

I dont know if this going to get me banned for a while or all together but your act is tired and old. Your a regular fan like everyone here no matter how much you want to pretend to be somebody special.

I'll take my repercussions from mods now...

Later, Gents.

This has been the issue ever since Jerry parted ways with Jimmy. Jerry hasn't wanted a real HC with real power and authority and risk being overshadowed even if it means giving us our best chance to win. Jerry wants to be owner, GM and meddle in coaching affairs with the spotlight on him.

The only time he actually tried was when he hired Parcells. But that was only due to him being desperate after three straight 5-11 seasons and hoping for a turnaround in order to get support for the new stadium. But as soon as Bill left Jerry went right back to his same old failed ways of being large and in charge with puppet HC's.

Now we'll see if Jerry is again desperate to win and do whatever it takes to do so, or if it's just status quo and just changing out one neutered puppet for another.

Florio is an idiot that doesn't know a damn thing about the inner workings of the coaching staff. What he said would fit the criteria of any number of NFL franchises. Sounded like he was talking about the Eagles, Chicago, San Diego, New York, Washington, Detroit and you know who else our Super Bowl winning Dallas Cowboys.

It is telling when a homer board, including the staff have turned against the head coach.

That's a misconception about this board and staff.

The vast majority of this board has been against Garrett for many, many seasons, this is not some new phenomenon. Same goes for the staff, there is pretty much only one staff member that still thinks coaching is not the issue and supports Garrett, not going to name any names be we all know who that is.

So for those that are on the whole Jaylon smith and everybody else who doesnt understand the scheme and its tendencies. Heres a explaination to this.

Dallas runs the same defense , same scheme, same situational tendencies every week. Maybe thats why you see teams now doing the same things with the same results that are making this defense look bad.

...heres what we do, you know what's coming...try and stop it. Funny how they often do, and we wonder why our "talent" doesnt prevail.

Its pure ignorance on the part of people who ought to know better, but being stubborn and wanting to be right more than anything can be a serious handicap.

That's been the entire problem with Garrett, he is trying to coach this team like he saw the way the team as coached when he was a player. Yeah, back then the team had so much talent that it didnt matter if the other team knew what plays you ran. We had three running plays for Emmitt, didnt matter, you couldn't stop him or the oline. Same on defense, doesn't matter if your scheme is basic or not if you got way better talent.

That all changed with the salary cap, it prevents super teams like the 90s Cowboys from existing. All of a sudden, the talent level between all the teams is really not that much different so schemes and coaching are vastly more important now that in the past.

Given this, is it really surprising that this team has not sniffed a championship since the institution of the salary cap?

We've been down this road before. Every time we think Jerry is backed into a corner with JG he doubles down. Just b/c Jerry is pissed doesn't mean he's going to fire JG.
he's already started shopping. i don't recall any of the years past where it was "this public" that garrett would be gone. it may not fix the jones problem at the core, but at least it is a major change. for that alone, i'd be grateful. now if jones does back up, hire urban and let him hire his own staff, we've actually made progress.
