Looks like Bruce Allen is getting fired in DC. Aikman has been talkative about wanting a GM role recently. It would be a very Snyder splash move to try and hire Troy. In the unlikely event that it happens what are your thoughts?

Troy really doesn't seem to like Jerry. So if given the chance to one up Jerry, I think he takes it.

Not sure. Wash has been reaching out to a few coach candidates, who said no because Snyder aka Jerry Jr aka Al Davis III, wont clean house and hand over the power.
Last summer they couldn't get folks to interview for DC.
I don't think Troy would set himself up for failure like that.

All roads to the Star have burned bridges. If he wants to be a GM, he can't be picky.

Why in the world would Aikman take that job? Or any talented GM, for that matter?

The Skins might be the worst organization in all of sports.

If Aikman doesn't like Jerry, you KNOW there's no chance he'd work under Dan Snyder.

I don't really feel a rivalry with the Commanders so much as I feel pity for them, so honestly, I'm happy that they're sacking Bruce Allen. That dude's almost like their Jason Garrett; just a mouthpiece for the owner that's stuck around for season after season despite being totally incompetent at his job. And you know how happy we're going to be when we sack Garrett? Commanders fans want Allen gone even more. I mean, have you seen what he's done to Trent Williams?

Elway and Lynch are doing pretty well. Troy is obviously very sharp. I doubt Dan could contain himself and would interfere. But it would be very intriguing if it were to play out. It’s probably unlikely that it does given Fox has the Super Bowl and the hire couldn’t be official until after that. Plus Troy not being desperate but I think he can be a good GM somewhere. Taking over for Brice Allen is the lowest possible gauge of success so he would be an instant improvement.

As bad as the Cowboys situation is, the Commanders are 1,000 times worse.

They are a dumpster fire of epic proportions.

Only the truly desperate will accept a job in DC. And I don't think Aikman is desperate.

Aikman seems to me would probably love to be the GM for a team like the chargers. He used to be a small minority owner of the padres and he has spent and still does I think spend a lot of time in Southern California.

There are really not many of those GM jobs available around the league and one of the biggest issues to me in hiring a guy with no experience is handling the salary cap however elway and lynch have seemed to have no problems so I imagine you can find experts fairly easily.

I honestly do not know who would hire someone like Aikman as the GM, Especially when he has basically called out the management style of a number teams when calling out jerry. Washington, Cincy, oakland all run very similarly.

Maybe Cleveland after they fire everyone this offseason.

Yes. It's all over the web that he's certainly open to the idea. Can you imagine? That would be the ultimate splash for say, from Snyder. Especially since Aikman (was quoted) has no interest in becoming the GM for Dallas, um should Jerry retire. :muttley:

Aikman: "I've said many, many times, I still believe there's another frontier for me — maybe there's not — but I believe that there is, and I think that might very well be it. It's something that I think would be very challenging. I'd be giving up a lot to leave the job that I have to take on a role like that. It's an all-consuming job, and I certainly recognize that, but I think the challenge would make it worthwhile.
