This board is light enough. There used to be higher standards around here. Now it’s full of these shallow threads full of speculation and fantasy bs. If that’s what you like you’re just one of a thousand around here so I’m not surprised. But you ain’t going to drag me into it so save it.

lol @ drag you. You saw the thread title, move along if it’s not your cup of tea.

I'd have a serious talk with Will McClay and ask him if he approved the drafting of Taco Charlton, Connor Williams and Trysten Hill. Also ask him if he was in favor of drafting Zeke that high, contrary to metrics, instead of J Ramsey. And if he approved of the Jaylon Smith pick. If he said he was in full agreement, I'd fire his *** on the spot.

So you're the new GM and you have total control over the roster of this team. Who do you keep... who do you trade for draft picks and what other moves do you make and why?

The new Head Coach must be hired before making roster decisions (other than Dak).

All new Head Coaches will want Dak; therefore I would sign him now.

In general I want a coaching staff that has mastered the Zone Blocking scheme on offense and how to defend it on defense (like the 49ers, Rams, new Packers coaching staff, Vikings, etc..).

On defense I want a staff that can run either a 4-3 or 3-4 and actually runs a hybrid of the two.

The Cowboys OL was great running the ZBS with Bill Callahan as the OL coach but they've regressed since he departed and his assistant that coached the OL in 2016 departed.

The Cowboys defensive roster is perfect to run the hybrid front that the Pats are running this season. It is designed around big LBs. It just requires a couple of big DTs and a couple of DE/DT hybrids which the Cowboys already have on the roster but the DTs don't have to be uber quick twitch. They can become almost a completely different defense from down to down and definitely from game to game based on the opponent.

Obviously any coaching staff will need at legit SS and a Pro Bowl type DT added to the roster.

They are stacked on offensive talent if Cooper is re-signed.

The current coaching staff is like attaching a bowling ball to each player's leg.

This roster with Belichick and his staff and an actual bowling ball attached to each player would beat this roster without the bowling balls but with the current Cowboys coaching staff...

Buy this board.

Shut it down.

Start new old school board where people had to have half a brain to post and idiotic threads were not tolerated.

I know that is so 2009, but that is how you have a good board.

7. I find a big strong DT in FA(Brandon Williams)
8. I draft:

2. CB
3. S. ( a Ss who excellent in run support)
4.TE
5. LB

9. I tell Joe Jackson to bulk up because I’m moving him to 3technique.
10. I trade for Hayden Hurst(ravens have 3 good TE)
11. I tell Witten and Lee thank you.
I want nothing to do with A Woods. Seasons on the line and he finds time to go get his weed and is stupid enough to get caught. No thanks.

My first 59 minutes of being the GM:

First .- Order a case of Blue Labels . (Gotta keep the tradition going.)
Number Two.- Call Jason Garrett, and all the Garrett brothers in the lot . Fire them at sight .
Numero 3 .- Call Bob Kraft , tell him he's a no good cheat, a lying scumbag and a prostitute exploitationist .
4th .- Call in Moore ... Fire him , and burn the Garrett playbook. Put Kitna as interim OC
5.- Call a marketing company to run Negative press campaign on Roger Goodell (bobby krafts number 1 prostitute).
6.- Call Jr. and tell him we need to interview the best 5 HC in college right now .
7.- Make Richard interim HC.
8.- Do a team meeting , throw Garrett under the Bus .
9.- Call a press conference , try to explain Garrett's complete 10 year failure.
10.- Call a cheerleader.

It all starts in the trenches. I'm getting bigger guards and bigger DT's. Ever wonder why the pocket gets pushed back into Dak's lap? Our guards are smaller than our tackles. Does that make sense to anyone?

I'm bringing in 6'4" pure pocket passing QB's and a WR that can play like a true 88. And our front seven on defense will be rebuilt to be big and physical.

Add all of that up and it means...I'm looking for replacements for Dak and Cooper. And Z.Martin and LVE are on the trading block. I know those are some big name guys, but following the dynasty blueprint is more important than any player or players.

P.S. There has only been one dynasty in the salary cap era. A 6'4" pure pocket passer. A true 88. And big and physical on defense.

Hurst is ok but I'd trade a 3rd for OJ Howard Tampa doesnt use him & they have Brate under contract..

Plenty of teams need a wide receiver right now. Look at the Eagles and Patriots as prime examples, but the Saints could also have benefited. I would have wanted at least a 2nd for Cooper.

Steelers would have been a good landing spot for Prescott. I'd want a first or a 2nd and a 3rd for Prescott. I'd be happy with either Fromm or Herbert.
Why u would FAIL...trading the known for unknown lol dumb

1. Hire Ken Norton away from seahawks as my HC.
2. Promote McClay to GM
3. Stay out of the way and let them work.

Why not raid the 49ers staff, Ravens staff, and call the Zendejas family to see if they have a nephew that can kick?

Clean house all coaches except Kitna and Moore stay

and Moore would be on a 1 year deal

second i draft the best interior DLineman in the first

i trade what i can for Jamal Adams

lastly i find a DB coach that tells players to turn their head and swat the ball....i see a db not turn his head ill fire the entire defensive staff.....dont even play with me ill go throught a whole staff multiple times
Why is Kellen or Kitna secure.....Dak starting to throw grounders and pass off his back foot.....again.

Incorrect. You just don't see things holistically. You are trading unknown and known values for unknown and known values.

How much will it cost to pay Cooper and Prescott next year? Long term? Will their play match their new contracts? Do you know either of these things?

Well, if I am given control over coaching, first I fire the entire coaching staff. OC would be given to Riley. HC to Meyer. DC to Rivera. ST to Tony Elliott maybe.

As for the roster, we are stuck with Zeke and D-Law, so I’d build around them. Keep Pollard in, and draft a new DE to balance out D-Law. I’d get a new middle LB since LVE and Jaylon have regressed. I’d also get a new LB coach or promote Sean Lee to LB coach.

I’d bring in another offensive line guard. We are screwed with Sua Filo and Connor Williams in. Time to draft someone else. Furthermore, I’d draft a number 1 WR. Amari is great, so is Gallup, but I want a true play maker. Julio Jones, Hopkins, Tyreek Hill, etc. we are missing playmakers from this team, as we have no big ones.

I’d draft 2 DT’s. We have no good ones. I’d draft or pick up 2 safeties. We have no good ones. I’d draft/pick up 2 or 3 CB/DB’s, since ours are penalty machines that not only do not turn their heads (though that’s a coaching issue more than anything), but they also can’t block a receiver.

I’d pick up/draft a new kicker and punter.

I’d also pick up a playmaking TE. We need someone like Kittle or Kelce. Our TE’s are below average.

As for Dak, I’d tag him and bring in competition. I’d either trade up for Tua, or bring in Hurts and let Riley continue to coach him through the motions. Dak just isn’t who we need him to be. He’s not good enough.
Sorry.

I’d basically have a small rebuild.
Sounds like you have given up on firing the whole roster? lol. In all seriousness that sounds exactly like what I wrote last week in my elite coaching staff thread. Way to copy me. I am actually joking. I think thats the best bet.
