There's some really good TEs in the 2020 draft. If Witten calls it quits I hope we get one.

Boy, that Moss kid is great! Not sure if he's coming out this year, but if he does, he'd be perfect for some team that throws to their TE a lot!

Sad i have to do this. And i love witten but him coming back hurt the team more than help. No way he should of just been insert as the starter week 1. Just "because he is a better blocker". Mineswell say "because we said he is the starter".

Hope witten get injuried (thats the only way it seems we get to have the better player play) so we can actually see jarwin a lot more.

Jarwin can't block in line. Can't block in the open field. But is a better receiver than Witten at this point. Not sure I understand everyone's complaints about Witten. Witten definitely plays much stronger.

Funny thing is though our coaching staff fails to see this and it's quite obvious? Just like everything else in this team you'd have to be blind not to notice it but they don't do anything that's part of the problem! The culture is rotten to the Core

I think they see it but they are just beholden to Witten.

You can almost imagine Garrett’s dimwitted take “Hey fellas, there’s no way I’m not gonna put a future HOFer on the field.”

Jarwin is explosive like Kittles, with a real HC he can evolve his route running, blocking, and mechanics.

Sad that Garrett's vision of a TE has to be a clone of Witten.
That's the problem with Garrett. He is still coaching like its the early 1990s. Bro the game has changed. We need explosiveness at the TE position and witten hasn't been that in years. But Witten is like what Garrett is to Jerry. Witten is Garretts guy. How else can you explain an old TE that retired for a year and then gets older and slower and comes back game one as the starting TE. His production on the field doesn't warrant a lock as a starter to me.

Give Witten catches to Jarwin.
BTW is anyone else sick and tired of seeing Witten run that 2 yard flare route? The guy has not agility. Cannot turn up the field and get more yards. Most of the time he run catches it and takes so long to put his foot in the ground and cut up the field that he either just gets tackled or runs out of bounds. Been seeing that crap for years.

Jason Witten DAL TE 53rec 455yards 8.6avg 35.0yds/game 33long 3td 2/20+ 0/40+ 24/1st 45.3/1st% 1fum

Blake Jarwin DAL TE 28rec 311yards 11.1avg 23.9/game 42T/long 3td 6/20+ 1/40+ 14/1st 50.0/1st% 1fum

6 / 20 + says it all with limited target.

Witten's retirement timing showed us a lot about his leadership.

They need a new playbook. Same predictable plays that the other team knows what’s coming. Our players have to execute flawless to succeed.
That includes defense as well. The entire bears game they talked how our defense doesn't disguise what they are doing making it easier for young QBs. No wonder we get trounced by no name guys

When the Cowboys were winning SB's they had Jay Novacek. Good wheels and hands, but not the best blocker.

Not saying Jarwin is our Novacek, but Garrett did see how effective a explosive receiving TE was for the 90's team.

IMO I think Witten runs the show for playing time and no one has the guts to cut his time. They see him as the best TE in the Cowboys history, a leader and a hard nosed competitor. I know he gives it his all out there, but they are capped as using him as a short route runner only. Safety valve so to speak. His days of being 15+ yards down the field on a route are long gone sans a few times here and there.

To me, Jarwin looks like Tyler Higbee of the Rams. They are physically similar and I think they have similar receiving skills. Given his size, Jarwin should be a good blocker in the running game. I haven't watched enough of him to see if he is or not. But even if he isn't, its a skill that can be taught. The knock on Martellus Bennett was he wasn't a blocker either but he did get better with experience.
