What about the other Belichick?

Since everyone seems to be obsessed with finding a way to make Bill Belichick the next coach, a long shot at best, what about his son?

Steve Belichick is a model of us father. There was an incident earlier this week where he spoke to the media and if you closed your eyes you’d think you were talking to Bill.

He is currently calling the defensive plays for the Patriots even though he doesn’t officially have the defensive coordinator title.

Steve has been coaching the Patriots for 7 years and is completely bought into his father’s philosophy. And he’s only 32 - if you find some way to hire Bill, you get him for two or three years, maximum. Steve, if he starts winning Super Bowls, could be here for a decade.

Thoughts?

If we were rebuilding I would not mind taking a chance on something like this. However, we need an experienced coach that has an established philosophy and not be intimidated by the nonsense of Jerry Jones.

Ron Rivera IMO is the best choice. His hire would not only give us a much needed different voice and message but also maximize the talent on our defense. He might even be able to talk Norv into coming over to run our offense who was able to fix Cam Newton's completion percentage while also creating creative running plays for Cam before he got hurt. Not only that he was able to take yet another talented RB and make him into a MVP candidate.

Thoughts? I think Dallas needs to hire a real coach. Not Romo, not Witten, not Steve Belichick. Why in the world are we talking about this?

Wouldn't mind looking at him as a Defensive Coordinator and having him work under a HC like Urban Meyer. But at the end of the day that would be Urban Meyers call.

Unless Jerry is sick of the results he’s been getting the last near quarter century and changes his ways, why would we think he’s going to hire a strong HC? Of the 7 HCs Jerry has hired in 30 years, 2 have been strong- Jimmy and Parcells.

Why should we believe he’s going to hire someone more like Jimmy than Garrett?

It's early to pick him for HC. This is his 1st year calling defensive plays. He's learning and players reported he froze earlie this year as an example of how young he is. Give him another year or 2 and he may be ready. Wouldn't mind him being a DC though.

Jr. Belichick wouldn't be my first choice, but it would be a solid one. The game is moving towards younger leaders who don't just spout cliches. Any coach that says, "we need to get back to playing hard nosed, physical football." when be interviewed should be catapulted out of the Star at Frisco. Jr. Belichick would bring fresh new ideas and forward thinking. He could easily assemble a staff based on his connections.

Can he call his dad for advice on game day?
I would be for this. First hire Ron Rivera as head coach and then see if Ron is okay as a de facto defensive coordinator. Then I would bring in Steve Belichick as defensive coordinator. It would be important to just get him in our building and let him run our defense and then move him up to head coach after a couple of years if Rivera fails

Don't fool yourself, Bill is running that D. The kid is just there for the ride.
