Jerry’s only hired the right HC once since Jimmy left. And was only hired cause Jerry needed a new stadium.

But Jerry still inserted himself meddling which ultimately ended the tenure before he could finish the job and since Jerry has retreated into his poor practices.

The only HC’s who’d be interested in coming under Jerry’s toxic atmosphere are those who aren’t being pursued elsewhere.

And yet the two names most commonly mentioned are Riley and Meyer? Two guys that could have their pick of jobs. Really shoots a big hole in this awful theory of yours.

As long as the Jones are controlling things, the Boys are going to have problems. Jerry Jones loves stars. Stars put butts in the stadium but players win football games.

That's not the sell on Riley. The sell is that he might be the best offensive play designer in America at any level. Several observers have said this, not me. And we've seen more and more Air Raid-type concepts work their way into the NFL the last few years.

As far as not being a complete enough HC, I might get that criticism. But it's not that he'd just be another puppet like Garrett.

Right. NFL coaches call Riley all the time to pick his brain. Plus he’s not this ho hum young kid. He just looks that way. The dude commands the room.

So, you read that I don't want Meyer because I don't like him? I didn't like Jimmy Johnson but I knew he was a great coach in college.

To answer your question, I am suggesting Meyer and I thought I was pretty clear on that.
I thought you were too, CC. Reading past the preface usually gives you a better idea of the story.

What are you going to do when he does?
I do not recall this much national heat on Booger even when the team had those 5-11's. Aikman and Bradshaw called him out and others have joined in so there's a lot of light shining on Booger now and it's not the kind of light he likes. This isn't a spotlight, it's a heat lamp.

I don't recall Crazy Al getting this much when he was making questionable decisions. The last time I recall a NFL exec getting this much, other than Irsay and Kraft, was Matt Millen.

There's been this hands off GM's and owners in the past, HC's are fair game, but this time they seem to be looking past Garrett at Booger for allowing this to happen.

The safest hire for him might be Rivera to fix the D and he's got some cred but Meyer with those rings at the college level has got to be attractive to him from a splash standpoint.

Especially since my preface usually has nothing to do with the story. I assumed he approached this like others approach my threads. "Now, what the hell is this all about, probably another one of his Must Wins threads".

Rhule was just extended this year thru 2027.

Remember he turned down offers or interviews from Jets last year.
Actually, he did interview with the Jets last year, and it's pretty common knowledge that he really wants to coach in the NFL.

He would take the Cowboys job in a nanosecond.

Riley might not be interested in the NFL, but Rhule most certainly is.

I think Rivera is a nice 'Plan B' option if Jerry can't step back enough for Meyer's tastes. Rivera would gladly take the job in Dallas without demanding wholesale changes from Jerry. And like you said, I firmly believe that he could fix this defense. And he'd have more talent to work with than he ever did in Carolina.

Rivera isn't a bad fallback. But also an indicator that Jerry isn't changing much in the way he operates, but finding another coach willing to accept that.

Riley is not leaving Oklahoma to be a puppet so if he comes he will have power.

Case for Meyer: he wins.

All about one side of his brain, just as they did Saban with defensing the RPO.

I am not discounting his offensive mind, it is impressive but who stands the best chance to get Booger more on the D side, Riley or Meyer?

This team has had two runs with multiple rings and those coaches had one thing in common, defense. That's why that cat in NE has been so successful.

The last thing we need is another "rule" being added to the NFL because of Dallas! (Sorry, just had to get that out of my head.)

Rivera would be the balance in personality because he's like Wade, laid back. He could care less about the media, all about the coaching, players and team to him.

However, he's not a headline grabber. Meyer, with his success and awareness of his name, that's a splash. Plus, he's already on the record about how special that job would be to him. Think that didn't get Booger's attention?

As far as cred and command of the room, I think both Riley and Rivera get that but only half the room, I do think Meyer gets the whole room, as much as any college guy can.

We're in total lock-step on this one. You're literally saving me the typing!
