Best case scenario: Dabo to Big D

In my opinion Dabo is the guy that the Cowboys desperately need. The culture that he's created at Clemson, the incredible energy that he brings, he's proven he can coach his *** off (he's out coached Nick Saban every time they've played each other; Nick had better talent for the most part), he'd bring the best out of players and I think he could control Jerry as well as anybody (both of them are good ol boys from the south and I think they'd have a mutual respect for each other).

Based on a Google search he makes $9.3 million a year, which blew my mind - but Jerry has the funds to pay the guy pretty much whatever it would take & I'd let him bring his whole freakin staff.

He's my first choice, but only if Brent Venables and Tony Elliott come with him.
Those guys can coach their ***** off and one of them would probably take over at Clemson, but I'd certainly love to have them as well.

I think Dabo’s dream job is currently occupied by Nick Saban. My personal opinion he waits until Saban retires and then takes over the Alabama program and stays there until he quits or dies which ever comes first

Dabo is the highest paid college football coach on the planet, and has no desire to leave Clemson. He's also a high character and religious type, which would never fly with the current state of the way the Jones clan runs this circus.

Keep dreaming.

Be a God in Clemson or be stuck with a drunk Billionaire and his kids who will try to inject in how you coach your team.

Tough one.
I addressed this because this forum is 93% just guys that hate Jerry and Jason and post the same **** over and over. Like I said I think Jerry would respect Dabo and let him do his thing, at this point in Jerry's life I just think he wants to win and that's all he really cares about.

Honest question: In general, is a pro coordinator job > college head coach? I guess that could depend on the teams involved, but as a general rule?

Not if he doesn't receive the "credit" for it.

Jerry is only interested in winning if it's his way. What has transpired in the last 25 years that leads you to believe otherwise?

I would absolutely love to believe you on this. But what makes you think now is the finally time where Jerry is broken enough to finally let somebody else do the job the right way?

He brings energy and emotion with him like no other. His enthusiasm is contagious.

So, why would Dabo want to leave Clemson for the Cowboys?

Has he hinted at any chance to coach in the NFL? (outside of that hypothetical threat of coaching in the NFL if college players get paid)
He has developed a great program at Clemson and there's zero signs of him slowing down there.
As you edited in your OP, he's getting paid quite handsomely already.

Does Jerry and Dabo have any connections?

Obviously this narrative dates back to him firing Jimmy Johnson over 25 years ago. I get it, but I'm not as sold on the fact that he's some psychopathic narcissistic guy that demands all the credit for winning. Would anybody really give the owner of the team credit for the team winning the Super Bowl? I don't know the guy personally but I think the media has done a great job of painting him as a super villain owner and has everyone believing your statement. I'm not convinced that Jimmy isn't equally responsible for their relationship falling apart and him moving on. I'm also not convinced that a person can't change the way they look at things and do things, especially someone as business savvy as Jerry. The guy is getting old and will be dead soon, he wants to win.

I'm with you on that and I'm not saying this would happen, but this is the guy that I would want. Also, I've done my due diligence in terms of research and there's nothing out there (except Vegas odds; they have 50/1 odds on Dabo coming here) that indicate he would leave Clemson for the Cowboys, but why does any coach leave a program that they've built? Money and the challenge or desire to coach in the NFL. Just for the sake of putting a number out there - let's say Jerry offers him $15 million a year (I know that sounds crazy but I'm just throwing a number out), isn't that something he would certainly have to consider?

Everyone says this about college coaches and yet every year tons of college coaches show interest in the NFL.

It's almost like highly successful people seek out the top of their field and enjoy new challenges.

I gotcha.

I think at some point he may want another challenge, but I don't think it's this offseason.
IMO the same train of thought goes to Lincoln Riley as well for me.
But at least there supposedly Riley and the Jones group have talked here and there.

Money may win him over for sure.

A top college head coach makes as much or more money than an NFL head coach, and he has a lot more job security.

I'll ask the question I always ask. As opposed to which owners? Which owners are willing to spend what Jerry spends, actually want to win, and don't want to it be their way?

Whining about Jerry suggests just a complete lack of perspective on sports owners.
