This video is why i discount the We Paid Too Much crowd.

Money blinds some to truth.

Should have kept Bill Callahan at all costs.

No only Bill Callahan. The players, other than Martin, just aren't close to as good anymore.

In my opinion, Oline is the most important thing to an offense. Don't think I have heard anyone argue the line is as good as 2016. But the line is definitely better than it was last year.

I had originally been saying Zeke lost a step. After watching the last 4 or 5 games, I was wrong. Zeke was just never that good. He is a good back. Durable, can do it all. THAT is his strength. But he is not elite in any area other durability.

This is also why you NEVER pay a back big money. Because most of its on the Oline. And when you do have a big money Oline, you shouldn't need a great back. Plenty of good backs that can run behind a great Oline.

We paid too much money for a good back that made his money off of a special oline. Many faster backs have equal vision, can read the play and blocking. He may become a power back, especially with our current run philosophy.

zeke a durability needs to be taken into consideration and celebrated. He may not be elite in terms of speed but he does everything well.

the guy is on pace for 1400 yards... 13 touchdowns and 52 or so catches in a “down year” and that’s in a year for some reason when we’ve gone away from him in some close games.

People point to these other flashy big play rbs? But how many of those guys have either been one hit wonders or unable to stay healthy?

People don’t realize zeke is on pace to be a hall of gamer.

No maybe not worth the contract. But I’ll take the consistency and durability over a lot of other players. Zeke is fine and the least of our worries

Hold up. What the video is showing us is that our OL isn't what it used to be. So, why pay some dude 100 million dollars if there are no holes? Might as well save the money and rebuild the OL. PFF always graded Zeke as mediocre BC he was doing what most any NFL RB would do with giant holes to run through. This guy is not making a case for paying Zeke. He's making a case that the OL isn't playing well.

I think the point is when you base Elliott on his salary, and then blame him for not getting long runs, this clearly shows he is still working hard, but there are extenuating circumstances.

Which actually validates my opinion that this is about money that doesn't belong to the complainer, because we live in a time when all people want to do is beetch.

This video doesn't help your case. It actually hurts Zeke, and actually, is better commentary for HBs as a whole.

Bad thread. You went in with confirmation bias and came out hearing what you wanted.

The complainers weren't the one's holding out in Cabo. The complainers aren't the one's sucking up salary cap space that could be used to actually improve the team. I'm baffled by fans like you that act like you got paid when Zeke got his money..........2 years early.

Aren't you familiar with the next scapegoat up brand of coaching? Garrett and Jerry patented it.

There is still plenty of cap space. That has long been established.

Bingo. The casual fans blame Zeke but people that know football and have been watching every play of every game can easily see our run blocking is horrendous now. This will also be blamed on Jason Garrett & Jerry because everything is their fault...

Someone else posted this recently.

The oline blocking worse is not mutually exclusive of Zeke losing a step.

Further, the argument that "Zeke used to not be touched for 40 yards, and now he's not" is *not* really an endorsement of Zeke as *still* a great back, but a better argument that he *never was* one, and only looked great in 2016 because the oline opened massive holes that most any decent back could break for big yardage.

The oline used to run block better.

Zeke used to have more burst and speed. You see it in the runs of 2016. You see it in Zeke beating the defense to the edge in 2016. How many times has Zeke beat a defense to the edge this year? I recall Zeke declining to even try to take the edge on multiple occasions this year.

Money that doesn't belong to the complainer is the worst argument a fan can possibly use. The NFL has a salary cap and the knowledgeable fans recognize the ramifications of mega contracts. Mega contracts usually end up forcing teams to cut good players. That being said, we are in good shape pending the two additional mega contracts we are expecting to pay in the next couple of months.
