I usually only watch Cowboys games but other teams' players seem faster

I watched two games yesterday featuring non-Dallas teams and dude...what the hell are we DOING?

It seems like other players are faster. Not just footspeed (which they are) but their reaction time. Players get actual jumps on the ball when it's in the air, RBs EXPLODE thru the hole and get going very quickly (like Pollard does), and the safeties giddyup closing on receivers to make the tackle. Which brings me to:

Tackling. Holy Hannah, I'd forgotten what actual hitting to impose your will on other players looked like! I do not know about you guys, but I am sick and tired of seeing guys wearing the star being dragged while holding onto other players and needing 3 and 4 guys to help out to bring a single man down. Someone somewhere is not doing their job, be it the coaches, the players or both. It is bordering on inept and it is shameful. Have some pride! Sack up and hit someone, ferchrissakes!

Do any of you all agree or is it just me?

Lol. I was waiting for a flag on nearly every play in the Chiefs game.

Yes you were watching real football compared to the high school version we play.

I 100% agree with you which is why I also say that this teams “talent” is extremely over rated. There are some things that just aren’t coachable or shouldn’t have to be coached at this point in a players career and several of our players fall under that category.

I agree 100 percent this roster isnt nearly as good as I personally thought it was. In the niners and saints game I couldnt believe how quickly the running backs were hitting the hole and into the secondary. There are great athletes on every team but the speed at which they play does seem to be above anything I've seen from Dallas. There is little to no hesitation is what it seems.

Now @aria I agree with your assessment on the talent but let me see what you think of this take as well. I'm not gonna run down Garrett right now because it's been said plenty of times already, but did you also get the feeling while watching that both of those teams coaches were really pulling out their best stuff yesterday? I mean Emmanuel Sanders td throw to like the third string running back, Juszczyk taking a hand off and then pitching it out to the Rb... plays like that were really something you dont see often. I'm not saying run trick plays all the time but I just think some of that creativity is really awesome to see especially in big games when one play could be the difference.

I’m not sure of Shanahan’s play calling because I’ve only watched the niners a few times this year but Payton was typical Payton and I even criticized him in the early game threads yesterday.

Payton may be a good coach overall but I’ve seen some bone headed calls by him that have cost his tram games. Yesterday, the most glaringly obvious bad call was the decision to go for 2 when they were up 13-0. What the hell?! That decision ultimately cost them the game more than likely. He also decided to fake punt from the ~50 when the score was close and they had to get ~10 yards IIRC. Granted, their receiver got held and it didn’t get called but the 49’ers got the ball at the 50 and got points out of it I think. Two costly decisions that were absolutely unnecessary.

Bills-Ravens and 49ers-Saints

Good games indeed with good teams. Skill sets with all four teams are high. I watched the Chargers vs Jacksonville (the West Coast market got this game). The Chargers took the lead and keep their foot on the gas for the whole game. Do the Cowboys do that? We score first, then let up and let teams come back on us.

I am glad that you also notice the level of play with us compared to the rest of the NFL. It is no contest.

Yea Payton had some questionable calls/choices that very well could have been the difference in the game.

It was mostly 49ers offense that surprised me. I know they are a good team but going down early against the Saints in their stadium is never an easy thing to overcome. Their offense kept humming along though and got a big win. I'm not saying the offensive play calling was what won them the game but Shanahan seemed to have called a good game yesterday, using every weapon he had and creatively found ways to get the ball in his guys hands.

Dallas just isnt in the same league as some of the better teams in the league and watching these guys every week it is obvious we need alot of help, especially on the defense.

So 17 other teams have an equal or worse record than the cowboys. So yeah, we’ve been terrible lately. But let’s not fantasize about how good other teams really are.

When you watched the Dallas games, did you notice the players in the different uniforms on the other side of the ball?

I always watch other teams RB and wish we had a guy that made plays like that.
