Garrett is trash

he is frustrated because he has no clue what to do

THE ONLY reason he has not been fired is Jerry

that is exactly the reason he needs to go

not sure why you can’t see this

No, I can see this! I want him gone, have never liked him and think he has no clue. My point was, I started seeing deeper into the dysfunction the last few weeks and Jerry and the organization has made it abundantly clear that they are an even larger issue because of their "friendships" and not holding people accountable and flying off the handle. So bad that I actually had some empathy for Garrett. I always used a circus analogy but I think it's deeper than that. Garrett is horrible but there needs to be an overhaul...not just him.

Agree on bolded! He has never been a good coach. He could have been gone 3-4 times in 10 years for his mistakes. My main point is somewhere in this season I noticed a Jerry issue that seemed magnified by 1000 more than I thought before. It's a frustrating thought because you are still fearful of any one small thing that will allow the JG/Jerry structure to stay the same. All of it together just weakens the organization.

I'll give you my opinion on this whole thing, going back to last year.

I think they would have fired Garrett if they felt there was a decent alternative. I firmly believe that they looked into Sean Payton, and hope they could have somehow gotten him. Jones' own comments during last year's playoffs alluded to something going on there.

When that didn't materialize, I think they looked at other candidates and saw no one better. At that point, the decision was made to keep their options open and let him coach out the final year. Make or break, do or die. And then Payton repulsed in New Orleans and broke their hearts.

But when they heard Urban Meyer's comments? I think they were pleasantly surprised and had their eyes opened. And I think they responded by investigating and sending out feelers. This undoubtedly made its way back to Garrett, and he and his agent responded with the 'Giants rumor'.

And notice how this team fractured from that point forward? As Jones and Garrett's relationship fractured, so has this team. Timing and opportunity have resulted in another wasted season and a trainwreck finish to the wasted Garrett era.

I'd post the article with quotes but The Athletic is subscription and the links are blocked here. BUT the article was showing how players reacted after the Bears loss. Much of the article focused on Jaylon's demeanor post game which included him worried about where his second phone was...as if it was the most important detail post game. How he was smiling and saying that they were still in first so things were good and that they would be out in any other scenario but are good with the their division. 10 ft away was Quinn who couldn't process the loss and who was shaking his head and barely able to speak to reporters because he was so upset. This was talked about in a segment on The Ticket yesterday too. It's strange that Bennett gave a speech one week and that Quinn, also a new guy...is this upset...but guys like Jaylon were just worried about their clothes, phones and being in first still. I guess guys process things differently but we have too many "lifestyle" guys around here.
and we paid Jaylon too. Nice.

Stash could not agree more on your theories. I thought Urban saying he'd take the job and the Jones admitting it was flattering was a big "Well look what we got here" moment. Add in all of the other stuff and I'm not even sure there already isn't an agreement between Jerry and JG that this is it and lets just close out.

Again, just my opinion, but my guess is that Meyer is already lining up his staff with the Cowboys. His former coordinators lost their jobs as head coaches recently, so things are lining up on that front, and time is of the essence. Those coaches will want to know where their next job is coming from and if Meyer is coaching, he'll want to have his staff assembled.

I feel that this is simply a formality at this point, and this organization will be going through the motions with Garrett and the 'hiring process' for nothing more than appearances.

But right now, we just have to wait and see because there's nothing that anyone will publicly say or do otherwise until then.

When Maher missed the FG, Garrett looked apoplectic--almost like he was saying, "I told you so!". I have no idea what happened in the week between Thanksgiving and the Bears game, but the organization was sending major mixed signals about replacing Maher during that week. It wouldn't surprise me, if Garrett's last bit of football capital was used up trying to replace Maher after Thanksgiving, but Jerry overruled him, only to finally give in this week. Nothing about this should redeem Garrett, who shouldn't be an NFL coach, but the Jones set the tone for the organization as a whole.
