Backup QB and a second round RB tearing up the league currently. Even their rookie WR is now showing out. At this point, what excuse does Garrett have?

Watching what the Titans are doing, this is what our team is supposed to be.

Garrett doesn't have a football mind, Cowboys don't have a good GM

They are playing as a team since Tannehill took over. Mike Vrabel is coaching the Titans like his p!aying days with the Patriots: Mentally Tough, Physical, and Smart.

I get your main point bout Dallas underachieving.

However, Henry is a beast and Tannehill really is not a backup QB
He was the starter in Miami but injuries and a crap team got in the way.
The Titans traded for him to compete to start and he has been by far the better player.

He's just finally on a team with a great oline and a run game.
He IS a starting QB...and a fairly decent one at that.
If fact, it's not completely crazy to think they might use the franchise tag on him.

I think there is a middle ground here. Tannihill has always been talent, and he managed to get to a point in Miami where he was at least somewhat passable. However I think a better coaching staff if finally maximizing his ability

See, I view this as more of Tannehill having a bit of a streak like Foles. I still think he's a backup at this point.

You could be right, but Im interested in seeing what he does next year if he keeps the job. The talent has always been there. Could see him being like Plummer before Shanahan. One of the most erratic QB's I've seen in Zona, Shanahan actually got him to break the record for most passes without an INT

Those years at Ohio State obviously prepped him for the NFL.
Vrabel was always an interesting coach to me. Well known for being one of the most versatile NFL players while he played, and a mix of college and pro coaching before getting his HC break. His first coaching gig was under Meyer, so he got started in a well run program

His first year with Gase, Ajayi finally established a run game for them and he flourished. Played the best ball of his career up to that point. That Chargers game he was throwing dimes.

~57 yard pass to perfection with a 300lb guy in his face.

2016 I thought Gase was the QB whisperer when Tannehill started playing well.
That wasn't the case with Gase but I digress.

He's still blind as a bat when it comes to the pass rush, but give him a decent line and a threat of a run game and he can be a starter.

Except he's not a backup. He won the job. The former starter isn't hurt.
He's been on the bench while Tannehill has led the Titans to a 6-1 record
(with a lot of help from Henry, who's an absolute beast).

Take it a step further and look at the Steelers and what they're doing. AB and Bell gone. Their starting quarterback, gone. Down to their 3rd string QB and add a ton of injuries. The team is 8-5. Put Garrett in this situation and he's 1-12.
