I am waiting to hear and read all the complaints when Garrett is given a new contract, it’s going to be hilarious!! I love to laugh and I will be eating my expensive steak dinner that I will win because I have a bet that Garrett is not going anywhere. Have y’all noticed that Garrett does not look bothered by all the talking, ? Because Jerry has already assured him he will get a new contact.
Oh we will be hoisting our 6th Lombardi trophy in February

I think revenge is a significant portion of his drive to be need to be known as a football guy. "The Snub" was a major factor in breaking a part of Jerry's psyche. Of course, events in his life before this were significant too. I think not getting enough love and appreciation and support from his father early on played a role... like his father actively blocking his attempt to buy the Chargers...to his playing footballs days and being treated like a star then...he ended up craving that adulation from high school and college.

It's an interesting character study in how specific events over time eventually twist someone.

You are very astute in your observation my friend.

My minor at UT was in Psychology and you are 100% correct that past events shape our future, especially events from growing up. If a person was abused as a child for example, they may have problems having relationships as adults for fear of being abused again. Or the opposite can even happen, you seek out relationships that are abusive to reinforce your self image from childhood that you deserve it. If something very emotionally devastating happens, it can cause irrational thinking and impact your decision making every decades later.

If Jerry was rejected or shunned by his father then "the snub" where Jimmy Johnson and others rejected or shunned him could have retriggered those very powerful emotions and that is why he is so hell bent on proving to everybody that he is a "football guy", even if we have 25 years of failure that shows otherwise. To Jerry, stepping back and hiring a gym would validate those that shunned him or mocked him and would be very emotionally devastating for him to accept. You could see some of this in his erratic behavior this week, crying after games, talking about redemption, being extremely irritable and cussing like a sailor on the raido, ect….

You have to understand the mind of Jerry in order to understand his actions and decisions he makes, it does not all happen in a vacuum.

All that Jerry wants is the "Shine" the Cowboys give him and until he leaves his last breath on Earth no one is going to take that away from him!

I think I have a new name for Jerry. Captain Ahab (or Ahab for short). His white whale isn't the SB. It's wanting to be known as a football genius. He's not capable of this but still chases that impossibility to the point that he'll die doing it...never succeeding.

He's insane when it comes to this subject. Nothing will make him change. His ego won't allow it. We're stuck with Captain Ahab at the helm until he is killed by his Moby Dick.
I was thinking pharaoh myself. Where is Moses when you need him?

Jerry reminds us why we’re screwed.

But most Cowboys fans are like crackheads. They’ll be waiting on the next street corner for whatever crappy junk he deals them with money in hand.

Jerry gets the last laugh all the way to the bank.

Assuming the new person would be as incompetent as gm jerry, his argument makes sense. But the idea is not to hire incompetent buffoons like himself.
What it comes down to is Jerry isn’t interested in owning a team unless he can play with it the way he wants to. It’s his ball and we can all go to hell if we don’t want to play his way.

He made that very clear with Jimmy and apparently almost 25 years later many Cowboy fans are still struggling with his selfish egotistical intentions he openly expresses.

Want another spoiler? When Jerry dies, his kids will continue the same narcissism their dad displayed for 20 something years.
There’s no indication the kids will run in the same narcissistic manner as daddy assuming they have equal ownership.

It’s doubtful the other siblings with equal stake would allow one sibling to have total control.

It’s possible of course that one sibling could buy the others out but most likely that would spur a sale of the team.

Jerry should realize by now, that he has failed doing it his way, trying to get all the credit for building a team.
And even if he won the SB this year or next, it would not matter, its taken too long!!!!!!!!!
If it takes you 25 years to accomplish something, that isnt something to brag about is it?

Jerry has missed the boat and doesnt realize it.

How about the 70s? The Cowboys were THE team of the 70s. Maybe even more so than the 90s.

It was new. It was a rush. It was bold. It captured the imagination of the nation.

If only I could relate what that meant to so many at the time. The time before cell phones and personal computers and twitter and all that jazz.

What that felt like.

Glorious.

Like x 10 Brother , Just no way to relate how good it felt to be a Cowboys fan in the 70s. Living that in the moment with Roger Staubach and Tom Landry on your side gave you an unequaled invincible feeling that will never be replicated

The bigger issue is he doesn’t care what we want .He isn’t interested in owning a team if he isn’t the Guy.

Remember Jerry admitted he’d of fired a GM with his record.

Jerry is basically saying . This is what I’m going to do. What are you going to do to stop me.

Well Jerry just when many were thinking Stephen was taking control or Will Mclay was the real GM or that somebody with some football sense or logic might pick us a new coach .

Thanks for sending us into the new year with NO HOPE totally confirming that you are completely in charge of everything . We really needed that pile of dung to run down our chimneys before the holidays THANKS!!!

Jerry continues to double down every time there’s controversy in who has control and running the show.

This is what I’ve always respected about Jerry. His brutal honesty standing in the kitchen while it’s on fire.

We’ve just never held his feet to the fire forcing him to change or sell out which he’d do before stepping down if we all walked away and no one showed up.

After all these years , he STILL doesn't get it.
I think he does get it and doesn’t care. He just pleas to the public to hold their attention while promoting his product.

Ultimately it’s on the fans to hold his feet to the fire.
