Saban left the Pros to go to Alabama for a reason. Besides, Garrett and Saban know one another. Garrett worked for Saban before he came to Dallas as OC. That's the only other coaching job Garrett ever had is Quality Control Coach and QB Coach, I believe. I would not be too sure that Saban would even want to consider it but yeah, he would not be my first choice either.

Yes, a call should be made. Why? Because Jerry would have to make concessions to ever land him.

This is what the smart fans are focusing on. How does the head coaching candidate impact Jerry? If the answer is he doesn't then he's a bad choice.

That would eliminate any and all candidates without prior head coaching experience.

Because he already tried the NFL and ran back to the college ranks bow legged where he can coach on autopilot at the self recruiting sentient entity that is Alabama.

if you're gonna take on that kind of tycoon as a HC, make sure he is bringing you something rarely unique to where he is the innovative of the new age,
new era, new future of NFL football. space age vs stone age, and you don't have to be as concerned about monster ego and over exerted authority battles.
Saban makes it work at the college level for decades, where he's dominated college recruiting and best mold it into winning at CBS playoff system.
But that's NCAA. and Saban is not Bill Belichek.

Belichek made his mark as constant innovative and the measuring stick of coaches and building ground at the NFL rank and level.
Belly himself is a constant on finding new ways to strategically beat his opponents on both sides
That's not Saban. He is still old school conservative, he'll stay conservative old school.

I think Saban is more at his best when he can call all the leads and shots without an authority figure over his head.
And if you know Saban and you know Jerry, you know its' going to be so very short lived, if at all.
The nowadays Jerry is more content with compromising and working cooperatively with Stephen and McClay, very highly doubt that's gonna happen with an ego driven Saban.
You would think with strong ties with Garrett he would take himself out of consideration.

The Belicheck and Saban HBO special is fascinating. I only saw half but hearing them talk football is great. It is also pretty cool watching Belicheck talk to his players on the field during practice.

I think Jerry is hardly insecure. Seems senile, yes, insecure, no.
The first sign of insecurity in business is the fear of hiring someone that might be better than you are. Many have shortened their careers because of this.

Saban was frustrated by the NFL and the players are the tail wagging the dog more than ever. The NFL has 20-25% turnover at HC every year and those are some good coaches losing their jobs. NFL HC's are far more likely to lose their jobs for injuries than their college counterparts.

There is a big difference between an AD that stays out of the way and having any owner that is more responsive to players he is paying more than the HC. A college HC decides discipline on his players to maintain the integrity of the team while a NFL HC can watch players like Owens, Beckham and Brown distract his team.

Think HC's like Saban, Spurrier and Petrino didn't have their headcases to deal with in college? Now give those headcases millions of dollars and a microphone or twitter account.

Saban wasn't interested in the same deal Gruden got from OAK that Texas was dangling out there. The man has it made, frustrated with the fans and alums or not, he built that and they know it.

It seems like a lot of the wishes for the next Cowboy coach is coming from the college ranks. I am not crazy about some of the names, but if we are talking about college why not throw Saban in the mix? Now he may not want to move on and he may not want to work under the clown show here, but shouldn't a call at least be made? Alabama is at an interesting spot. I am sure they are going to be good next year, but for the first time in several years, they may not be one of the top three favorites entering next year. Plus Saban has the Dolphin failure on his resume. Does he want one more chance to try to win big in the pros? Saban has mentioned in the past how the fanbase at Alabama takes for granted winning at Alabama and this has frustrated him.

Last night on HBO there was a show where Belicheck and Saban had their conversation taped. I only saw half of it, but it was really interesting. They allowed a camera to be in the room with them as they talked about philosophy, coaching, etc. You get to see the side from Belicheck you don't see in front of the media as well.

Saban's Dolphins "failure" was a 9-7 season. In Dallas, that's an incredible success.

Saban has a better NFL head coaching record than Josh McDaniels. Some people just like to talk out of their butts to try to sound smarter than they are.

Those who say Saban would not come back to the NFL are not wrong, according to Saban. He has said, himself, that he doesn't ever see himself leaving Bama. Now, that doesn't mean that it won't happen but I don't think you jump out here and say this about other posters and jump to conclusions about their motivations. Saban said he didn't ever see himself back in the NFL and leaving Alabama. That's not on the posters, that's on Saban.
