Zack Martin became football's highest paid guard two years ago and his play hasn't really slipped either. If he's had any dropoff it's due to the nagging back issues he's had since camp.

Last year Martin had a knee issue all year. It's a testament to what a monster he is that even injured, he's near the top of the league.

Zach Martin responded with another all-pro year. This time another first team mention in 2018 after a 2nd year AP year in 17
Agreed. Crazy thing is he might make first team all-pro AGAIN this year for his 2nd straight time post extension (he's currently the highest ranked cowboys player regardless of position and is ranked signficantly higher than the two RG players who normally make the all-pro team, those two being Marshal Yanda and David DeCastro)

Might be missing someone but provide me some names of anyone in the past two or three years who has performed better after being paid. Just curious if there is anyone who falls in that category.
Zach Martin and the Beard. The Beard maybe having a down year but having to deal with his condition may take a full year to regain his strength.

D.Law has played good, hustles, and tries hard, and that is all you can ask of a player, is to try hard, give it their best.
As for sacks, that is such a silly stat lol. All it is , is a tackle of a QB, generally a weak player , but it got the sack name
and people like seeing a guy just standing there getting smacked by a bigger player so now it is a big deal, but really
just another tackle.
pressure, batted passes, playing the run are all as if not more important.
I have seen DL's pressure lead to other getting a sack on several occasions, that is often how that works.

They also need to stay in shape in off season, and that is where elliot is a slacker, and I just dont think he is giving his best
or trying hard all the time, and clearly he isnt in good shape.
Jaylon tries hard, but he looks like he is working with mechanical legs, but he is trying hard.
I think he was a poor choice to draft, and same for the extension, but jones boys disagree lol. But I cant blame Jaylon.
Romo always gave it his all, and could say the same of some others.
But many players once they get the big money, they let off the gas and cruise, it is a natural human thing to do.

I agree that rookie contracts are part of the problem, and by the time players get the big deal their big years may be behind them.
I think rookie contracts should be for 1 year only, teams get to test drive the rookie, then either pay them or trade/cut them.
All contracts should be for 3 years max. And all contracts should be guaranteed totally if a player is injured while playing .

The whole reason for the rookie contracts, I thought was because a team would sign a high draft pick to huge contract,
then they would be a total bust. The one year deal would give a whole season to evaluate. And to deal with injuries,
it could be they have to play in 16 games to qualify for new contract.
