So are you saying you think Jerry's real deep anger is toward Stephen for "outmaneuvering" him?
or toward the fact that is looks like he's losing control, in your opinion?

just trying to properly grasp the point you are going after here.
FWIW I don't see Jerry relinquishing control under any circumstances.

Jerry isn't relinquishing control, he is just being forced to live up to a promise he made with Stephen before this year. Jerry is pissed because he now realizes he was completely wrong about Garrett and will have to fire him.

if he's forced into a decision he supposedly doesn't want to make, he's no longer in control. Someone else is.
I don't believe Jerry will ever relinquish control.

It's always fun trying to psychoanalyse things. :D It's an interesting take but I don't buy it.
Although coaching played a big part in Zeke's "decline," I think it was totally silly to pay him what JJ did. Even professional sports writers know that the RB position can be successful with average guys and a good OL!! It was simply another plunger bet by JJ wanting to showboat his ego and have a "star" at RB - even though he's not - and statistics proved this before he was extended.
As far as SJ is concerned, I'm not convinced anything will will be done differently, and I'm not sold on the 2 coaches you mentioned at all. Everyone's been throwing their names around like infatuated girls at the high school prom. On top of that, JJ is about to pay Dak a plunger deal of record money.
I don't care how bloody unlikely it is for Aikman or Romo to work for JJ, but either one of them would be the only thing that un-breaks my apathy and gets me excited for this team's future once again.
After being a fan since the 60s, the last 25 years since Johnson left and especially last 10 years of stupidity, have totally wrecked my ability to care and I know I'm not the only long time fan who's been gutted by this circus. Without a huge Cowboy name as the face of this organisation like Aikman or Romo, in the words of JoDee Messina, "mygiveadarnsbusted."
So you arent sold on the 2 coaches. BUt are sold on 2 guys with NO coaching experience coming in and making you have less apathy? lol. OK

Yep I am. NFL experience is worth more than coaching experience outside of the NFL IMO. These guys have the smarts and the attitude to be coaches in their sleep. You can't see that? Garrett has experience and how did that turn out huh? Your argument is flawed.

Maybe Jerry is angry because he realizes he should have done this years ago and he wasted valuable time - which is getting short for him. He's made at himself. Maybe he is embarrassed, not because he made a bad decision, but because he made in so publicly and then he backed it up and justified it for years, again publicly, when others were starting to question the decision. Jerry doubled down again recently saying everything that happens on the field is because of him. Or maybe he is angry with Garrett for not helping him out by winning some games. Maybe he is blaming Garrett because he trusted him to win and Garrett failed? When I had to fire people on my staff, I got mad at some of them for putting me in that position. I hated firing people. Its the worst feeling in the world, but with some of them I blamed them for making me do it! LOL. Maybe Jerry feels the same way.

Whatever the reason, I am pretty sure its because Jerry feel backed into a corner and has to go against all the BS he has been spewing for years.
Of course he’s mad at himself. He did wait too long...he does that. They have to get hit over the head with Thor’s hammer to make the point, then stil won’t learn,it’s like me....you just give up and go “he’s a lost cause”

Living up to a promise isn't losing control. Jerry will be the one to fire Garrett.

My god, its like talking an angry 5 year old. LOL

Garrett has NFL experience so now you sound even more ridiculous. Since you are basing your argument on NFL experience. lol. But my argument is flawed? You realize you arent making sense at all right? If NFL experience is worth more than coaching experience outside of the NFL, then Garrett should have succeeded. Not failed.

You guys can take your shots at me and say what you want, but this is IMO the real reason Jerry seems to be so distraught lately.

I think before this season, Stephen and Jerry had a meeting about Garrett. I think in that meeting Stephen told his father that they needed a change but would give Garrett a chance to win himself a shiny new contract. Stephen knew this wouldn't happen. As he is on record after Philly winning a Superbowl saying "no more excuses" regarding injuries and whatever.

He also knows his father would never actually fire Jason. So this was a way for him to get rid of him without hurting him. I think in that meeting too things may have been said about control. Basically that meeting was like. "You have had it your way for 10 years, we need a new coach in here and a culture change, and that includes us."

Now we get to why I think Jerry is upset.

Jerry for the first part of the season was basking in all of his glory thinking, I am going to extend Garrett and get to continue to do things my way. As the season wore on and Jerry started seeing the unraveling and the Garrett era coming to an end, he also saw his own control going out with the coach. He has been lashing out and crying and then lashing out again because he is actually resigned to the fact that Garrett is leaving, and the culture change Stephen proposed is about to take hold. Meaning he can no longer do what he has been doing.

This culture change will be a changing of the guard for the coaching staff and the FO. And the biggest turning point was paying Zeke that money and seeing him not live up to it because of sub par coaching. Jerry realized that now is the time and it has to happen and hes mad as heck about it.

Why do I say this? Jerry has gone out of his way to make everyone know this season that hes the man. He is the GM. He is the final say. My thinking is. He knows he wont be saying that next season.

I think a deal is already in place with Urban or Riley, and Stephen negotiated it. Its already done. And Jerry is throwing a tantrum because he knows the new coach will have control and he needs to sit back.

This is obviously my opinion. I would love to hear your thoughts on this everyone.
Nice.

I wouldn't doubt it at all. Expounds on my theory that Jerry has failed and he knows it, and that has made him both mad and frustrated. He failed and he knows it, and now the entire world will finally realize it. That's why he won't just dump Jason right now, because he believes there's the smallest chance that this will all work out.

Mine wasn't, and I don't think EROD's was. I think your conjecture is perfectly plausible.

What is not in doubt is Jerry's anger and frustration. Now it's just a matter of throwing some ideas around as to exactly why, and what has changed. To me, things have changed. And it appears to be a change that Jerry does not like even a little bit.

I think...youre giving Stephen way too much credit from the get-go here...he wanted Garrett to succeed just as much as Jerry. The public grabbing their torches and pitchforks is prompting this more than anything and they finally feel like they can no longer ignore it.

The clue to his anger and frustration, and my personal enjoyment, is the word he used about him present coach and fear of a new one, comfort. He's got it just like he wants it, best it's ever been and now he has to take a chance on disrupting that with a new HC. Got this one trained to the point if he makes a mistake, as he did with Linehan, he will correct that within hours. This new HC might say all the right things but how does he know for sure?

There is also another terrifying thought that floats around in his head. What if, as crazy as it sounds, Garrett takes his next team to the Big Dance and wins it all? Look at all of the coaches that left, any successful? Johnson, Switzer, Gailey, Campo, Parcells, Phillips, any of those guys successful as a HC?

What if Garrett goes to NYG or WAS and makes them successful? Think he can claim training him? Or stunting him? Oh, I agree, not likely to happen but Booger thinks that's more likely than we do. Five teams lining up to interview him because Booger selected him. That's the way an egotist's brain works, all comes back around to them. You are better because he hired you.

I know most only want to see Jerry as this ego maniac Dr Evil type but I believe there is something different at play.

Jerry values loyalty and friendship. I believe part of why its so hard for him to give up on Jason Garrett is because in his heart he cares for this man. I believe Jerry feels this way about Romo also.
It was Romo that basically stepped down from the QB position and did what he felt was right for the team. I don't believe it was Jerry telling him his time was up.
For all the Jerry is I believe him to be a good hearted man. He may make billions of dollars and love the spotlight but I believe the idea of coming to work everyday and not having one of his friends by his side hits him more than some want to think.

I've had to part ways with employees over the years that reported to me for many different reasons. As much as I have a job to do some people actually hurt me to have to show them the door.

Maybe Jerry feels this way about Garrett?
